Heather Shieldbug at Cardowan Moss LNR, Stepps, Glasgow, Scotland

Heather starting to make its appearance on Curbar Edge.

An image taken last year on our visit to Shropshire and it won't be long now before the Shropshire hillsides of the Stiperstones and the Long Mynd are covered yet again in this gloriously coloured Heather.

Not much to show after yesterday's sunrise and sunset shoots. But I quite liked this one. The skies were fairly clear and the light was harsh right 'till the last. I found these rocks quite late on and was still working on the composition as the light was failing. So this as far as I got. Quite windy as you can see by the movement of the heather.

Not many flowers left in our hills now.

We stopped at a "Truck Stop" in Sweden - unlike our truck stops in Australia - on our way to Oslo. The wildflowers were so beautiful adding a real pop of colour to the landscape.

This is heather which I hadn't seen before. The tiniest of flowers so beautiful when viewed closely.

The heather has just come into flower on the moors. Gun Hill, Swythamley, Staffordshire Moorlands.

Here taken with my 35-year-old Tamron 500mm mirror lens. I thought the doughnut bokeh would look good here. All a matter of personal taste, of course.

Edinburgh, Scotland, 2015.

A bit more time to find a composition this time and to get the layered look I was after.

You know that summers coming to a close when you see the burst of colour that is Heather.

This is up on the moorland above langsett reservoir, its a nice walk round for a couple of hours.

Heather Franklin (MM #775704) was the model for a fashion shoot I did last weekend for DominiqueViNae (MM #2387530). See more of Domoninique's fashions at dominiquevinae.bigcartel.com/.

Bell heather (Erica cinerea) flowering in Dartmoor National Park. This isolated plant is one of the first to flower in the area this summer. It will not be long before vast areas will be coloured purple in this region of the moor.

After fog was predicted, I got out of bed early this morning to take this photo.

Heather is just getting her feet wet in modelling and we did a TFP session last week. This headshot showing her wonderful smile came from that session.

Shot from the Constance Pass trail (north side of the pass) ... looking at Del Monte Ridge and the headwaters of Heather Creek which eventually feed the mighty Dungeness River ... a beautiful basin that begs for exploration. Our high point of the trip was Pt 6576 ... the knoll along the ridge on the right. The pass is out of view on the left.

Heather season, flying by. Seemed a very colourful one this summer, must have been goldilocks conditions.
