After 2 education programs, a trash scout, and camping through 4 storms, we were very heartbroken to cancel the cleanup and festival. We would like to thank our sponsors, partners, crew, and friends from the Washington Area River Council for the hard work and support to make these large-scale events happen. We greatly appreciate all the exhibitors, musicians, and artists who stayed on-call until the very end! Additionally, we'd love to thank individuals from the City of Washington who were there to help with the cleanup, especially helping with emergency response.

Our Beloved Tucker - April 15, 2001 - March 6, 2007
An exceptional cat whom never met a human he didn't like.
I posted what happened at the head of this set. We're heartbroken and still wishing to wake up to it being a bad dream.
Thank you dear ones for your heartfelt comments on my kitty Tucker. Thank you Darlene for the wonderful picture ... it made me smile and conveys the warm loving person you are. You are a very special lady.
Here is my little Tucker, I will do a tribute page for him on here soon as I have a moment to breathe.
I will miss him terribly .. he was one of a kind. We're in the denial stage right now ... and seeing him at every turn in the house. He was still a baby for heavens sake. His little companion Sophie is staying close to me ... she has never been without him so this will be hard for her too. She got to say goodbye before he died which sent me balling my eyes out.

OMG ... Bless your heart Darlene, what a sweet ... very touching thing to do! Thank you so much to you all for your support and hugs. We'll get through okay but geez it's one of those times when you say "Enough Already". Our Tucker was only six which makes it extremely hard especially when he was fine only a couple of weeks ago. NO signs of anything this wrong. Sophie his other half is wandering around to his spots sniffing and then staying really close to me. They both graced our home at the same time almost 6 years ago from totally different litters and only three weeks apart. This all came about after losing our 16 year old cat Triscat to feline leukemia. The day I went to pick up Trissy's ashes is when I met Sophie at the vet. She had been abandoned by her momma and was only two weeks old. I held her, she bit my nose and that was it! The vet kept her and took care of her until she was ready to come home with me. Meanwhile my daughter brought Tucker home from a litter her friends barn cat had and he just melted our hearts too with is blue eyes so we now had two kitties to bless our days with silliness and love at a time when the loss was so fresh.
Tucker was one of a kind, very docile, friendly, no hissing, no scratching nor biting. He is the kind of cat you can dress up and put in the baby buggy .. or was. He was a big kitty too ...at one point almost 20 lbs. but after he got hit by a car and survived he lost some and stuck at around 14lbs. but not fat either.
My daughter picked up his ashes yesterday so now he and Trissy will have a place with us still as we don't have a home of our own to bury them in a special place.
Now he is my little Tucky Angel and I can picture him being led around by Trissy and all of our past dogs and cats showing him the ropes across the Rainbow Bridge. I know he will always be in my heart and am so very grateful to have had him grace our lives with such an abundance of antics that will make us smile when we think of him.
I really am thankful for having my friends whom understand and care enough to lighten my heart and make me smile. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here. Soon as I get a chance I want to do a little tribute page for him to share and also have to do a kind of scrapbook spread for my daughter who he chose to come home with at the time.
Now, no need to worry about us, tears are inevitable and good for you, we have been through tougher times than this but as you know ... these kinds of things tug at the heart strings so hard. We've started this year out with two very sad deaths in the family, my husband getting injured at work and now our Tucky ... such is life and we will survive. Like I said we have been through worse ... long story another time.
So dear ones I wish for you to all have a safe and happy weekend and send each of you hugs for caring. Flickr has become another haven of friendship for which I am truly thankful. Please give your furbabies a cuddle for me and take care.

As it turns out as I add this now (end of March), Tucker's demise might very well be linked to the recent and ongoing pet food recall here in N. America. I fed him one of the Named foods a couple of weeks before he died. All of his symptoms in the end are identical to what they have said to look out for. This is making it all the more heartbreaking. He wasn't ill prior and in good health ... as well as being a young cat. You just never know. My vet agrees too so now, all the appropriate measures are being taken to add our name to the list of pet owners who have lost a dear sweet furbaby to this horrible nightmare. :o{

Oops. I totally forgot to tell you guys. Well actually, I don't know if I forgot or was too heartbroken and didn't want to bring up the subject. Probably the second one..
I found him the morning of May 15 just laying there.. So I'm pretty sure he went peacefully in his sleep. He was running in his wheel happily just the day before. I buried him next to Potato, Daisy, and Puff. So he's reunited with his brothers and sisters.
The thing is, I usually don't play favorites, but Mochi was my favorite hamster out of all my previous ones. He was the cuddliest and loved massages *so* much. So.. I guess losing him made me want to stop with the hamsters. I'm not gonna be getting another hamster after this. I'm afraid of going through all the heartbreak after a hamster passes. Just when you're totally in love with them, they have to pass away.. One or two years is just too short for me. :/ So I'm mainly going to be concentrating on Ares. I also bought a small two gallon aquarium, because I'm gonna be getting a betta fish. For me, the pain of losing a fish isn't as great because you never get to cuddle with them or play with them or anything. However, in the future, I may go back on my word and get another hamster, if I really can't resist..
Our CPC is heartbroken to say goodbye to our dear friend and colleague far too soon. On our drive to his funeral today, we were moved to see so many in Gord Brown’s community honour him by putting their lawn signs up. Gord was a man who loved and worked hard for the people of his community, and his dedication to them will live on in our memories.

Sur le chemin de ses funérailles aujourd’hui, nous avons été émus de voir tant de membres de la communauté de Gord Brown lui rendre hommage en installant leurs pancartes. Gord était un homme qui aimait les gens de sa communauté et qui travaillait fort pour eux. Son dévouement restera bien vivant dans nos mémoires.

I am heartbroken to see that Dave Prowse has died. Im not too surprised though as he'd been retired a few years ago and has been getting ill as time went on. He played many parts as well as bodybuilder and trainer, as well as Darth Vader, the guy in A Clockwork Orange and the Monster in a Hammer Frankenstein movie (which I dont have). I was hoping to meet him a few years ago as well but that fell thru but its for the best. I do have a few autographs that I got mailed directly from him and thats enough. I always loved Vader and the way he played him gave so much character to the performance. He will be missed. May the Force be with you, always.

We lost one of the sweetest kitties tonight. :(
I think she had a seizure. I heard a noise in the bathroom, and by the time I got in there she was convulsing and moaning in the bathtub. I wrapped her in a towel and put her in the cat carrier, and by the time we reached the vet (just down the street) she had stopped breathing. She was still warm, and I was sure I felt her heartbeat - they took her back immediately, and were gone for quite some time... but were unable to save her. :(
She might have gone crazy over lights reflecting off cars passing by, but she would purr like a motorboat as soon as you got close enough to touch her. She may not have been able to leap like her sister, but she loved to snuggle and keep me company at night or when I was sick. She might've come to us with a broken tail, but she left us with broken hearts. </3
