Straws make up about 4 percent of the plastic trash by piece, but far less by weight. Straws on average weigh so little—about one sixty-seventh of an ounce or .42 grams—that all those billions of straws add up to only about 2,000 tons of the nearly 9 million tons of plastic waste that yearly hits the waters.

I was on an early morning walk along the Fox River at Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva, Illinois. I took a trail that was not as well-trampled as the one I was on. A few yards further I saw this.

Having seen a lovely purple Tulip a couple of weeks ago, I came across a garden which had a lovely display.
I have learned the best way to get a good shot of a Wilson's Snipe is to not entertain the vaguest notion of that objective. Planning to find one usually results only in hearing the wing clap and seeing the blur of feathers in my peripheral vision. In this case, a snipe was the furthest thing from my mind as I sat in Horsepen Lagoon, eating a snack and enjoying the cool morning, at which point my gaze happened to land on a jumble of flotsam just at the moment a stretched wing emerged. Given that opening, I was able to slowly maneuver in closer and observe for a good fifteen minutes before the bird wandered into the reeds and out of sight.
This is my chosen meme for Archyrie's tenth challenge.

In the summer of 1996 Class 60 no.60035 passes Bedlinog with a loaded MGR from Cwmbargoed Disposal Point to Aberthaw.
This was around the time Class 60s replaced pairs of Class 37s on these trains and this is the first time I saw a Class 60 on the branch. I never been back to the line since but will make the effort again one day as the scenary is superb.

Location: Berlin - 1608km from home.
What a magnificent spot. This Great Wall Haval H6 is my first and only Chinese car. It is the best selling SUV and China and Great Wall renamed its SUV brand to Haval only. The car is also sold as Hover H6 in Bulgaria (etc.). It is manufactured in China or Lovech, Bulgaria. Cars made in Bulgaria are produced for the EU market, such as Italy, Bulgaria or Romania. Therefore I believe this one was made in China rather than in Bulgaria, being bought in Russia and driving on Russian plates.
