I have been working on some reindeer hats this week in preparation for a small listing batch thus was missing in action for a few days :P

Having left Kirkham North Junction behind, Provincial Services liveried 142047 was passing Ribby Hall with a Colne to Blackpool South service on April 13th 1991. The 142 is running along the once double track coast line, that was singled beyond Kirkham in 1986. In the background, stood on the stub of the truncated Down Line, was BR Mk.2C Coach M19543. It had been destined for Northern Ireland Railways and was in transit by road when the coach suffered some minor damage. It was unloaded at Kirkham, but unfortunately suffered some vandalism and was pushed 'out of sight' on the Ribby Curve. M19543 spent some considerable time lanquishing away, and was eventually cut-up on site. In April 2020, 142047 is stored at Heaton Depot on Tyneside.

Have never seen as much water as I did on Sunday at Brown Moss. Some places (as above) were completely impassable, even with wellies! Had to go out of the reserve through one gate, along the road then back in through another gate! The one below was ok, thankfully!

Well, recently I have a kind of creative slump, so I'm approaching different subjects and seeing whether it will be something acceptable or not. Outside of the Tornado, another promising project turned out to be Yak-141M, an often forgotten supersonic VTOL aircraft, designed in the late 80'. Similarly, as in the case of Tornado, the available technical drawings are rather inaccurate, especially in the cockpit area. Unfortunately, it is impossible to find a really good side view photo of this plane to compensate for that, as the available data is really limited. So there is a lot of guesswork when designing this model. I am not really sold on its overall look, however, some solutions are quite interesting, so maybe they will be useful for somebody. The introduction of the 2x6 wedges really allows for getting nice angling in the canopy section. Also, I was able to get the cockpit opening to the side, even though the canopy is only 3 studs wide. What I don't like about this model is a bit too massive radome, and the air intakes - they should start a plate lower, but then it becomes impossible to use the curved slopes, as all of them are 2 or 3 plates high, while here one needs a 4-plate high solution. I don't expect to finish this project, at least in the upcoming months, but I would say that it is possible to get a nice Lego Yak-141M if one is willing to make a few compromises here and there.
I have never liked oranges, even as a child. I can tolerate the smell of them, but the taste of them in whatever form - juice, fruit, sweets, anything ... is really horrible. It makes me feel sick. :( I like lemons, limes, grapefruit - it's just oranges which I don't like. Even photographing this wasn't very pleasant!

Having spent the day working on the 1 service between Wigginton and Chapelfields, the last duty for Volvo B9TL Wright Eclipse Gemini YN07 MKF is to run a single outbound journey on the Fri-Sat only late night final 26 service to Fulford Crossfield Crescent, seen at Piccadilly. This journey does appear on the First York website but is in no paper-based timetables. From next week this 26 journey is booked to have a single decker on the friday (bah!) and a double decker on the saturday

Vandaag eens geen geoefen met lensflare, maar met een lekker bakkie koffie op de bank.
I didn't feel like practising lensflare again today. So just hanging on the sofa with a cup of coffee.
Two DM&E red bomb SD40-2s bring up the rear of a power set in Galesburg, IL. Back in the DM&E/IC&E days, I used to despise these things ruining pure blue and gold consists. Now years later I'll take it.
I have observed that while some specimens of Asian wasp come to the flowers of the ivy to feed on their nectar, others go to hunt insects.
The behavior of the wasps that come to hunt is much more aggressive. They fly constantly among the flowers of the ivy and they are avalanzan against any insect that is in its way, from common flies and syrphids to bees and bumblebees. At this time of the year, the Asian wasp needs a lot of protein to feed its young, and therefore its hunting activity is much higher.

I have only used this base image a couple of times because of the unusual nature of the trailer, but felt that it might not have looked out of place in the Pickfords fleet. Best known as a household remover, Pickfords was (and is) also very active in the industrial removals sector. Whilst still under British Road Services ownership at the date depicted, the livery no longer incorporated the British Transport Commission crest. It is a great shame that this Doncaster-built US-style truck was not a commercial success. I always considered it to be rather stylish (06-Jan-15).

… and thirteen other things that you may or may not have known about me ☺
1. I debated whether or not to post this and whether it was risqué or not, but then I realized that my pants and belts are so loose that anyone who sees me walking around campus or anywhere would see all this anyway.
2. I could not live without my camera, laptop, and coffee. I could live without a cell phone, or probably anything else.
3. Ever since I’ve moved into my apartment, I’ve had macaroni and cheese at least 2-3 times per week. Macaroni and cheese is best complimented with blueberry coffee.
4. My mom thought I was too skinny when I was in elementary school so she had the doctor put me on a milkshake diet… In other words, I had a milkshake with every meal to fatten me up. Well, I actually got kinda pudgy up until halfway through high school.
5. I have horrible skin caused by a genetic disorder that has never happened in my family before. Also, I’m a lefty, the only one in my family. In other words, I am a fluke. Or maybe I was adopted, except that everyone seems to think I look exactly like my brothers.
6. My top four job aspirations are: to become a filmmaker and make a living doing it, to become a professional photographer, to be a musician, to be a writer. I will never be a musician. My backup plan is to open up a nice coffee shop somewhere on the shores of the Mediterranean and live a quiet happy life. I will never have a desk job!
7. 7 was my favorite number until I realized that it is the most cliché lucky number in existence. Now my favorite number is 49538. Actually, that was a lie, I don’t have one.
8. I want to travel to every country in the world. Then I’ll decide where I want to settle down. Right now I go to school 5 minutes from the house I grew up in. I’ve never moved, and have only been to less than 10 states and only one country. I have a long way to go.
9. I am good at math and science, but swore a solemn oath while graduating high school that I’d never get a job in either. I never thought it would happen, but after a year of no math classes, I actually missed it and so I am taking calculus right now. It is fun. I like logic.
10. I’ve only ever had one girlfriend and we dated for a year and a half. I don’t mind being single though. It has it’s perks. Also, I’ve been facebook married to the same person for over a year now.
11. I can’t draw. Anything. If I pick up a pen or pencil my hand quivers. Everyone else in my family can draw amazingly well. I like writing though. Actually, in 9th grade I completely changed my handwriting. I just picked how I wanted to do each letter and then wrote “a quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” over and over until it stuck.
12. I don’t like watching TV. There are maybe 3 shows that I’ll actually want to watch. Anything else I will only watch because I’m in a room where it’s on. Generally I’ll leave and listen to music or go on flickr or watch a movie. Or read a book, but I don’t read nearly as much as I’d like to, mostly because I don’t have time during school. In the summer I read a book a week on average.
13. I generally stay up 1-2 hours later than I’d like to every night because of flickr. Whether it’s responding to comments, checking out pictures, or gong through my pictures on my hard drive, or photoshopping… like right now. Ugh. Ok well this is 13 so that’s it!
I finally have this guy back in my collection. I originally lost this guy in one of my toy mass extinctions (garage sale). He was one of the last figures to go in it so I was hoping he would stay. he was the last turtle figure I bought as a kid. I've been looking for this one in good condition and with weapons, so I got him for a decent price

Having photographed the NR HST set a number of times around South Yorkshire with the origin of Derby RTC , it was nice to get a new starting point , Burton Wetmore seemingly the temporary base for RTC test trains whilst Derby is being remodelled .

Have you ever felt passionate about feeling passionless? I'm talking about the grey days, the in-between moments like the Nova Scotian forest, after autumn but before winter. What do you say about the feeling of unfeeling, the solid state of sleeping in, wanting to awaken, but not wanting to get up?
It can be an expansive expression, standing in an open field with nothing but shivering grass between you and the furthest distance. Will Oldham called it "that grand dark feeling of emptiness", and I can't conceive of a clearer term for it.
I feel unendingly lonely on desperate days like these, with a chill in my fingertips and a creaking of naked branches, filling my ears with the quietest sounds. The world bends overhead, and the skeleton forest shines pale against the greying sky, like a small child on an x-ray. I hold myself close and write odd words without understanding their consequence. They peel back the layers of fallen leaves shrouding my soul. I pile them up elsewhere, and jump feetfirst into them instead.
I miss my love on days like these, indeed, I miss love itself – and in the voices of a softly settling forest, I whisper tales of dryness, hardness, and the fullness, surely, the overflowingness, of emptiness...
