Elli and I are planning a cross-country trip either this summer or next, needed a tent, and having recently switched to a hatchback, I found this awesome one on Ebay that attaches to the hatch and jumped on it.
We went out to West Virginia this past weekend to try it out and found out it's great! Also had a really fun camping trip and will be doing a lot more in the future.

Photographed with my flip phone on the same day, in the same parking lot, as the white 2013 Mark 6 Golf hatchback sedan in the picture before this one on this photostream. The only visible difference is that tis one has Connecticut plates.
I don't know how many standard Mark 6 Golfs were sold in the United States, but I see plenty of them around. My neighbor has one, a 2013 model; I have a 2012. When the decision on whether or not to sell the mark 8 Golf in the States still not made at this writing, I would hope that Volkswagen of America would consider the loyalty of its die-hard Europhile customer base in making its decision.

Essentially a 5-door hatchback version of the Mini, designed by the same man and built on the same general principals. Except for the fact that the brakes had a lot to be desired and it suffered from that British Leyland touch of unreliability.
However, the Maxi does have a claim to fame that's very famous, but often overlooked. In November 1979 during the Iranian Islamic Revolution in Tehran, one of the British embassy's first secretaries rescued five American diplomats who had managed to escape the stormed US Embassy in his own private British registered sandglow Maxi 1750HL complete with its GB sticker, once rescued the British secretary then discovered that the British Embassy had now also been overrun, and so undertook a treacherous drive across Tehran to the north of the city to the British compound of Gholhak.
Once at Gholhak, the British diplomats and families smuggled the Americans in the Maxi again to the home of a Thai cook who worked for a member of the US Embassy staff. Ten days later they moved on to the home of the Canadian number two diplomat from where the CIA hatched a plot to rescue their diplomats using Canadian passports and posing as movie makers. This was the basis for the US film Argo (2012). However, in this dramatization, the British role (and subsequently the Maxi's) were written out, as director Ben Affleck stated he wished to make the escaped diplomats look helpless and desperate to the studio audience.
As you can imagine, the lack of Maxi resulted in much disappointment from British Leyland fans (but for the general movie-going audience it's neither here nor there, I still enjoyed the movie even without the Maxi).

Always good when a Bus drives through smaller villages on the way, meaning even more chance of spots. I actually got off just for this car! The most interesting difference this has from the regular AX of the time is the alloy wheels, which are, in typical Citroen fashion, fantastic.
Good to see this one still around, first generation AXs seem to survive in fairly adequate numbers for now. ME plate is North East London, so its moved around a little bit.

The Fiat 500 is a two-door, four-passenger, transverse front-engine, front-wheel-drive A-segment city car manufactured and marketed by the Fiat subdivision of FCA since 2007. It is available in hatchback coupé and fixed-profile convertible body styles, over a single generation — with an intermediate facelift in Europe with model year 2016. The 500 is internally designated as the Type 312 by FCA.
Derived from the 2004 Fiat Trepiùno 3+1 concept (designed by Roberto Giolito), the 500's styling recalls Fiat's 1957 Fiat 500, nicknamed the Bambino — a model that was designed and engineered by Dante Giacosa with more than 4 million sold over its 18-year (1957-1975) production span. In 2011, Roberto Giolito of Centro Stile Fiat received Compasso d'Oro industrial design award for Fiat 500.
Since 1998, Fiat's entry-level model in Europe had been the Polish-built Seicento, itself an updated version of the 1991 Cinquecento. These models had only ever been sold with three doors, although Fiat had responded to the growing demand for five-door city cars in 2003 by launching the Panda, which replaced a three-door model of the same name which had slotted into Fiat's European range between the Cinquecento/Seicento and the larger Punto. Around the time of the Panda's launch, Fiat set about developing a three-door city car to replace the Cinquecento.
Driven by the tremendous success of the Smart Fortwo, especially in Italy, Fiat began examining a variety of small car concepts "to regain its small-car crown," — developing an "intense interest at producing a Smart (Fortwo) competitor" — and concluding that "most customers want more than just the Smart's two seats."

The Toyota Corolla (E210) is the twelfth generation of the Corolla that has been sold internationally since 2018, starting with the hatchback model. It is built on the GA-C platform.
The twelfth generation Corolla in hatchback body style was unveiled as a pre-production model in March 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show as the Auris. The Auris nameplate was discontinued across Europe in January 2019, but the nameplate has been used in Taiwan from September 2018. The Taiwanese Auris is propelled by the 2.0-litre petrol engine and CVT transmission. It is equipped with VSC, TRC, HAC, Head-Up-Display, Push Start and Smart Entry.
For the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), the hatchback is marketed as the Corolla Sport and sold alongside the smaller than international version Corolla sedan and Corolla Touring station wagon. In other regions, it is simply called the Corolla hatchback.
Depending on the countries, power for the Corolla hatchback comes from the choice of the 1.2-litre 8NR-FTS turbo petrol, 1.8-litre 2XR-FXE Hybrid petrol, 2.0-litre petrol M20A-FKS or 2.0-litre M20A-FXS Hybrid petrol.
The Corolla Hatchback was launched in Australia on 7 August 2018, while the Corolla sedan went on sale on 26 November 2019. Both the Corolla Hatchback and Corolla sedan are available in three trim levels: Ascent Sport, SX and ZR. All models are powered by a 2.0 L engine. The 6-speed manual transmission is only available as standard on the base model Ascent Sport, while automatic CVT is optional for the Ascent Sport and standard on the mid-level SX and top-of-the-line ZR. The 1.8 L engine with hybrid drivetrain is also available for all trim levels except the ZR trim of the Corolla sedan.
A top seller in Australia over a few years, the Corolla is now the best selling car, despite being outsold by the Hilux and Ranger Pickup trucks.
