he set of four above I have only just finished stitching earlier this year - I kind of worked on them over a couple of years on and off, just picking them up when I had a spare few minutes. (Thats what I love about red work - its so portable, and you only really need the one colour be it red or whatever colour you love to work with, I usually carry mine around in an old biscuit tin!)
I brought the printed fabric at a craft fair and I couldn't remember who from, but I just came across their website: www.gigglebuttons.com.au/ - theirs are actually in colour and with buttons.......as per usual I followed my own whimsy!
"Golden Balls" (!!!) by Julie Fountain put together with gold filled and vermeil beads...oh yes...and a very discreet little crystal in the middle.
I love golden tones and I am so glad that this Autumn, gold accessories are a "must".

I have been busy these past few weeks working on a pretty huge project for Handmade Nation. The awesome documentary is going to have a companion book published by Princeton Architectural Press. These few photos are samples of hundreds of drawings of the names of the people that will be represented in the book and film. I am also working on a new wave craft timeline as well. Wheeee!

I used one of her cute enamel mini earrings and the small wide band, I added a stamped silver top and a little blue enamel disc to make the earring stand out. I wanted to use more of the earrings, but ran out of time. This was a fun challenge!

The name Amethyst derives from the Greek word ametusthos, meaning “not intoxicated,” and comes from an ancient legend. The wine god Bacchus, angry over an insult and determined to avenge himself decreed the first person he should meet would be devoured by his tigers. The unfortunate mortal happened to be a beautiful maiden named Amethyst on her way to worship at the shrine of Diana. As the ferocious beasts sprang, she sought the protection of the goddess and was saved by being turned into a clear, white crystal. Bacchus, regretting his cruelty, poured the juice of his grapes over the stone as an offering, giving the gem its lovely purple hue.
