This is the underside of the bone handle showing how the corrosion of the tang has caused the halves of the handle to open up and separate. Note how the scales of the handle are carved to match the shape of the scale tang, also the discreet chamfers.

This shows my process of hand carving an axe handle from beginning to end. The only part missing is splitting a log down to make a plank for me to work down.
I liked this one too much to let it slip away into the abyss known as my photo library.

The most wonderful door, on the back of a commercial building in old downtown York, SC.
Like I said - peeling paint is what York is all about.
The top and handles are vinly. The rest of the fabric is cotton. There are 3 pockets inside. One of them is a zippered pocket.
The little cover that hides the screw stops the handle from closing when opened fully into the notch. How clever!
