Handeck (Handegg) is a village on the Grimsel pass road in the municipality of Guttannen, Switzerland. The village is located near the lake Gelmersee, which may be reached by Gelmerbahn from Handeck. There is a hotel and bridge at the village.
Geography
Handeck is located approximately 75 kilometres (47 mi) east of Bern and 63 km (39 mi) northwest of Locarno. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking. It has an elevation of 1,423 meters. The road to Grimsel Pass summit goes right by a pair of short tunnels to Handeck.
Places
Handeck has a hotel and a bridge named "Suspension Bridge". It also has a waterfall. There is also a chalet, the first-halting place, which is beautiful. The village's cascade surpasses all others in Switzerland (Wikipedia).

Trassee der Gelmerbahn
Die Gelmerbahn ist eine Standseilbahn in der Gemeinde Guttannen im Berner Haslital in der Schweiz.
Sie führt vom Handegg hinauf zum Gelmersee und hat eine maximale Steigung von 106 %. Sie wird vom Betreiber als steilste offene Standseilbahn Europas bezeichnet. Seit 2017 ist die Stoosbahn mit 110 % Steigung die steilste Standseilbahn.
Die Werkbahn wurde für den Bau der Gelmerstaumauer und der Wasserzuleitung zum Kraftwerk Handeck gebaut und nahm 1926 ihren Betrieb auf. Im Jahr 2001 musste sie total erneuert werden und die Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG (KWO) entschlossen sich, die Gelmerbahn zusätzlich für den öffentlichen Betrieb auszurüsten. Anfänglich durften pro Fahrt nur acht Personen befördert werden, weil die Bahn nur eine kantonale Betriebsbewilligung hatte. Wegen des grossen Andrangs entschied man sich dazu, eine eidgenössische Konzession zu beantragen. Seit 2004 kann – nach kleineren technischen Anpassungen – die volle Kapazität genutzt werden.
