Good Luck!

Custom made hand embroidery portrait of Chairman Mao based on a photo, hand embroidered by a professional embroidery artist using fine silk threads on silk base.

This bed is dressed with a batted silk bedspread in a delicate shade of cream and dripping with layers of lace. The roses and rosebuds on the bedspread are hand embroidered using custom dyed silk ribbons. The same roses and rosebuds are embroidered on the insets in the headboard and footboard of the bed as well as on the pillows. The matching dressed vanity bench pulls the whole room together. A one-of-a-kind, completely custom made rag doll and doll quilt I made for my niece's first birthday. Everything was improvised aside from the dress, which was based on the itty bitty baby dress from made by rae. I had to change the pattern a bit to make it smaller (I know! It's already itty bitty!) so it would fit, which is why it's a bit wonky. This is also my very first dress, very first embroidery, and very first doll of any kind. I think she looks alright :)

The doll is made of unbleached muslin. Her shoes and hair are a brown twill and the lighter parts of her hair (highlights!) are kona cotton in sable. Her dress is Alexander Henry Juicy Apples and Pears. The dress lining is a light pink cotton, as are her cheeks. Her face was freehand embroidered, and her shoes are appliqued, as are her cheeks and hair.

The quilt beneath her contains scraps from anna maria horner's good folks line, heather ross' mendocino line, and amy butler's martini dots and daisy chain fabrics.

Handmade set of two coaster are fully hand embroidered with my flower bed design by using DMC embroidery threads on felt.

Done by double layer felt which could be protected the cups or mugs nicely, enjoying coffee or tea time.

This is a quilt that I am making for my mom for her 80th birthday (on April 24th).

The handprints are from each family member. I used 5 different fabrics in different shades of blue (my mom's favorite color). The handprints and white fabric are cotton.

Next to the handprint, I hand-embroidered each person's name. I used a blue washable ink fabric pen to trace the way each person wrote her/his name.

Each of the handprints are blanket-stitched (by hand) to secure them to the fabric.

The blue squares are flannel and are 2 different colors of blue (a light and dark). Each one has a hand-embroidered word on it. I asked family members who were 7 years old and older to think of words that described my mom.

I picked the top 15 adjectives and started with the most popular at the top of the quilt and worked my way down to the bottom of the quilt.

The exception to this was the word "Appreciative" which my dad used to describe my mom. I placed that right under his name.

I felt this was important because he has Alzheimer's Disease and it was a struggle for him to come up with adjectives (nouns are sometimes a challenge...so adjectives are even more difficult).

The other intentionally placed adjective is "Protective." It is in is the complete opposite placement of my dad's hand (his is the first square in the first row; the Protective square is the last square in the last row).

I added this one because - especially as my mom has been watching the changes in my dad, I see her protective and loving side towards my dad.

Especially earlier on with A.D., there were a lot of things that she didn't want to share about his decline in order to "protect" him and not have people treat him any different.

Pretty deep burgandy velvet is smothered in glass beads and embroidery stitches galore. I love how versatile this brooch is. I can see anytime of the year on your favorite white tea or a thick cable sweater. Complete with a domed pin back so it stays put without sagging or flopping.

First gift making of the new year, yay !

Floral fabric is Liberty of London, Tatum print.

Trim bought in Paris last year, and re-embroidered.

(old ?) Pink fabric has been re-embroidered too. (I loved making this !!)

Lining is a lovely acqua (or minty ?) gingham.

It's a gift for a friend but it inspired me to make more of these for the shop !

The bear is actually quite small and the headband is medium sized so won't appear like this on your child's head...just used it as a reference for the head.

Another new headband design using felt...of course it's felt!! I decided to try something new..I've always loved to look at appliques and wanted to create a small scene using felt so..the entire felted medallion is only 2 3/4" round..The birdie and leaves were quite a challenge as they are only about the size of a pea..maybe even smaller...

I have this great recycled felt made form plastic bottles and some has great embossed detailing on it..hence the brown piece for the tree..if you look closely you can see the design..There are about 5-6 layers of felt used here and I hand embroidered some detailing around the grass and leaves.

A pink polka dotted felt was used as the background or the tree..making their own pink apples..I added some glass pink beads for dimension..Blanket stitching was done around the perimeters of the felt discs..all sewn onto a stretchy cotton pink headband..

Phuong Nguyen was born on July 7, 2009, in Ho Chi Minh, (Saigon), Vietnam. Her name, Phuong means Phoenix, and represents one of the four mythical creatures of this ancient culture. She presently stands 14 inches (36cm) tall and as my design, she is meant to be played with.

I made this for my brother for his birthday. He's an urban chic, stainless steel kind of guy, so I figured he'd just love some 40s kitsch in his kitchen, especially since his only sister made it. Since I'm warped I combined 2 towel patterns from the 40s: Kitchen Gaiety and Vegetable Rhumba. I changed up the eyebrows and mouths on the woman and her dog, added some dancing vegetables, and turned an ordinary kitchen towel into something slighty naughty. My brother said he was going to frame the towel, not use it, so I guess he liked it a little.

These are made from felt and woven together. Then I hand-embroidered the ornament together using the blanket stitch.

These two ornaments were part of a heart-shape ornament swap on Swap-Bot.

Other felt ornaments - including heart-shape woven ones - are available in my shop. Please see my Flickr profile for the link to my shop.

These handmade pastel shade craft pieces are hand embroidered entirely with my flower bed design by using DMC embroidery threads on felt.

Design and done in egg shape. With two 12-inch long adjustable ribbon for hanging. Could be hanged as an ornament on car, handbag, door knob, fridge...

This month for my patchwork group we were asked to create a block for Danielle's Tiny Town quilt that was between 3-6 inches.

I decided to make a tiny park with trees in bloom and flowers below using applique and hand embroidery.

This block measures 6 x 6 inches.

I am re-visiting stumpwork and I have unearthed some old pictures from a time when I used to teach this subject.

I have put aside my womens' suffrage studies to ready myself for the General Election which should be in the early part of this year.

I have always made a piece for the Election, and this year I thought that I would revisit stumpwork and in particular the padded faces I used to embroider. These would be interesting made into political jewellery.

My embroidered brooches are available at Yuko Higuchi’s new shop/gallery Boris Zakkaten in Omotesando, Tokyo (in-store only).

Stitched in stranded cotton in satin stitch and split stitch.

This blue elephant was stitched with five shades of blue and gold thread on bleached calico.

I found the pattern at www.flickr.com/photos/briancampbell/3013344222/in/set-721... so go and have a look at bcampbell_to for some lovely patterns.

I used french knots, chain stitch, back stitch and split stitch.

I love how the markings around the eyes give the elephant character.
