A typical Lisbon street scene, taken in the Alfama district.

Alfama, the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the São Jorge Castle and the Tejo river. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning hot fountains or baths. It contains many important historical attractions, with many Fado bars and restaurants.

In the back the Lisbon Cathedral is partly visible.

The Meliane River (وادي مليان), also known as Oued Miliane is a Wadi that flows into the Gulf of Tunis located in the North Eastern coast of Tunisia.[1][2]

The River starts near Djebel Bargou(جبل برقو) mountains and drains a watershed of about 2000 km².[3] The Oued Miliane has a number of tributaries including Oued el Hamma, and is the second longest course perennial river in the country after the Medjerda.

All shot in this series were shot using a canon speeedlite 430ex and a hamma umbrella triggered by a cactus V2. Light was set above, in front of model.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, not an orange Ferrari FF in front of my lens.Obviously,it was very black and it showed up while it was very dark, because of course. But anyway,I am quite happy that I've seen it and that I grabbed couple of shots of it!

Whilst exploring the Alfama district of Lisbon there were a number of great viewpoints over the tiled roofs including this one which has the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora in the background.

The Alfama is the oldest neighbourhood of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the São Jorge Castle and the Tagus river. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-hamma (الحَمّة), meaning "hot fountains" or "baths". During the times of Moorish domination, Alfama constituted the whole of the city, which later spread to the West (Baixa neighbourhood). Alfama became inhabited by the fishermen and the poor, and its condition as the neighbourhood of the poor continues to this day.

The great 1755 Lisbon earthquake did not destroy the Alfama, which has remained a picturesque labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. Lately the neighbourhood has been invigorated with the renovation of the old houses and new restaurants where Fado—Portuguese typical melancholy music—can be enjoyed.

A look back to what was one of the biggest shoots in my life.Shame that back then I didn't really know how to use my gear, and that I was missing CPL filters. Then again, given the fact that I had my DSLR for two weeks then,it didn't end up that bad.
