This is Hydrangea Blue Steel, interestingly the new stems are black. There are two flowers picked today, the one bottom right is the most recent to come into flower and is a deep blue, the one to the left has been in flower for some time and some pinks and light brown are creeping in on the flower, the top one is dried and was picked last year.
I took this shot as part of a practice exercise in using different White Balance settings. This shot was taken with the WB set on Fluorescent which has given it a blue/purple tint which I think works well.

This shot is a practice run for this weeks SSC challenge, which is "Joiners" i.e an image that has several photos stitched together to create the final image. This is a view looking towards Halstead and is 9 images stitched together.
A possibility for this weeks SSC challenge.This is the side window of the establishment Old and Modern Furniture.

Today I spent time photographing Halstead Marathon and couldn't resist taking this photo of the lady with her sign!

Friday 26th May 2023 saw the Ride London bicycle race come through Halstead Essex. This was a Women's race with International qualification, so the top rated three riders arrived 10 minutes ahead of the peloton.
Of far more interest were the sheer number of Essex Police motorcycles on display - 14 in all, plus two Volvo XC90 cars to ensure a smooth ride for the cyclists. A shame they could not find the money to fix all the potholes in these roads first!

A shot of the wind turbine garden ornament in the garden, it was a pretty windy day and I had to wait for it to be turning at a decent pace to take the photo.

One RT type took part on the Fort Halstead Running Day in July 2014 and seen here is RT3148 at Halstead.
I was surprised to see that the pleasant village of Halstead (the Kent one) is served by TfL buses. With the Cock Inn in the background, RF 600 pauses for a photo-stop while returning from Orpington to Sevenoaks. The rubbish in the bin adds nicely to the scene...
