Using the GigaByte X58-UD5 motherboard (which had a Foxconn cpu placeholder...) I had the most compatibility to run OSX with little tweaking. Essentially installing OSX using my MacBook Pro and a SATA to USB adapter, along with a program to install the necessary drivers for the hardware I was able to dual boot OSX 10.6.4 and Windows 7 64 bit successfully with full hardware support. Also, running the Windows install in VMWare Fusion proved amazing as it was running off the 75GB Raptor drive.

New Case: Corsair 800D

As you can see in the previous photo, the case had room, but it was a bit snug considering the hardware. So, in hopes to eliminate any possibility of higher temps and less air intake with no controlled heat zones, the new Corsair 800D was the best possible choice as it had all of those.

It's the best case I've ever owned and the build quality is exceptional. Each component of the computer has it's own heat zone: PSU, hard drives, and motherboard. Also, the hard drives are hot swappable and stay very cool with the one fan blowing on them behind the "Corsair" piece on the right.

The main benefit of this over the Antec 1200 was heat zones, less places for air to come in, low profile, better build quality, near tool-less maintenance, and of course huge room to grow.

Swapped my case, now using the Corsair Carbide Air 540. Larger but nicely organized case. Large side window.

Sadly the MSI logo still shows through despite this being a white based decal

There is the hackintosh beast. LianLi A05 case, Gigabyte UD5 board, i7 920 Intel Chip, 12GB ram, 300GB raptor, 2x 1TB Hitachi drives, and a GeForce 9500 1GB graphics. Total, cost me $900 to build after searching the internet for deals. The HDD, case, and memory were bought used.

The cabinet is from Ikea. It was cheap, something like $100-150?

There you go. Mac OS X running on an Acer Laptop that came with Windows XP and at a faction of the cost of a MacBook (similar specs to the last generation of MacBook Pros)

Even though I'm not actually a geek (I just play one on TV), I do currently have a pretty sweet setup at home for when I'm building sites.

From foreground to background:

Wireless keyboard

Wireless Apple Mighty Mouse

Dell Mini 9 for database stuff

iPad to test how well the site works on Mobile Safari (and occasionally look up something on php.net)

Macbook Pro with VNC open into Ubuntu server in the front hall to test layouts on Linux

2m x 1m Projector screen (also powered by the Macbook Pro) with Photoshop open, also running VirtualBox to test on all manner of windows variants and browsers

And a mini accordion hanging on the wall.

The multi-touch trackpad. Not bad, but definitely not what I'm used to on a MacBook. I'm already looking for a portable mouse.

Finally fully up and running Leopard 10.5.5 with 2gb of ram and wireless N card from a macbook pro.

Haven't actually built it yet, but I was planning to load Mac OS X onto here. Went for a budget build, but still did get a decent processor and motherboard for some better performance compared to my current iMac.

Only bought parts when I saw a good deal on them, so I've been collecting these for about a month. Here are my parts:

NZXT Source 210 Elite White Steel with painted interior ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $34.99

Corsair CX430 V2 Series CP-9020046-US 430W Power Supply $19.99

Kingston HyperX Red Series 8GB RAM 1600Mhz DDR3 $32.01

Samsung 830 Series 128GB SSD $69.99

GA-Z77X-UD5H LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Motherboard $179.00

i5 3570k Quad Core Processor $160.00

2.5" SSD > 3.5" Drive Bay Adapter Kit $6.99

Sony AD-7280S-0B 24x SATA Internal DVD+/-RW Drive $22.39

Total: $525.36

Its a pretty good netbook with WiFi, Bluetooth, 3 USB ports, 10.1 inch screen and a proceseor that lets you use it as a light duty computer. Upgraded to 2GB, WiFi n, 320 GB HDD. I installed Mac OS X on it and played around for a while with great success. Sold it to a freind who is enjoying it.

Installed MultiBeast UserDSDT / DSDT Free option:

Network - Selected realtek Gig Ethernet 2.0.6 for 10.7

Disk - Selected IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector

GraphicsEnabler=No

Do not install audio

Reboot

Injected AppleAHCIInjector kext from desktop with kext beast.

(AppleAHCIInjector properly identifies chipset as Intel Series 7)

Find Voodoo Audio for 10.8 on osx86.net and install with Kext Beast. (Make sure to delete all other audio Kexts from S/L/E before installing)

Reboot

Everything seems to be working; Sound, WiFi, Ethernet, Sleep, Wake, Shutdown (however it took over 10 min once), Restart, Video (runs CS: GO well). USB works fine, except USB 3.0; does not seem to detect my USB 2.0 flash drives, and I don't have a 3.0 flash drive to try.
