The Mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) is a primate of the Cercopithecidae (Old-world monkeys) family, closely related to the baboons and even more closely to the Drill. Both the Mandrill and the Drill were once classified as baboons in genus Papio, but recent research has determined that they should be separated into their own genus, Mandrillus. The Mandrill is the world's largest species of monkey.
The Mandrill is recognized by its olive-colored fur and the colorful face and rump of males, a coloration that grows stronger with sexual maturity; females have duller colours. This coloration becomes more pronounced as the monkey becomes excited and is likely to be an example of sexual selection. The coloration on the rump is thought to enhance visibility in the thick vegetation of the rainforest and aids in group movement.

SINGAPORE ZOO
how fuckered are you that,
seeing a familiar face
in the eye of a storm,
say,
with a shit eating grin,
hello, again old friend.
Taken while feeding the Koi carp, Goldfish and Crucian carp at Chengdu Zoo.
The larger fish are deeper in the water and when food was dropped in they would rise up enmass and push all the fish and water above them up. Several of the fish have the food they were going for ontop of their heads, look for the the second orange fish down to the right of centre for an example.
How would you interpret the fact that she 'mentors' him?
Is it a sign of liberation and confidence?
She is sure enough of her abilities and can assist her brother.
Is it a sign of repression?
The only way she can allow herself access to the masculine rifle is by helping her brother.
:-)
How lucky we were to have a pair of kestrels in the yard where we were staying in Nevis. They were quite active, and incredible to observe. To my surprise they were incredibly loving towards each other and had the most incredibly sweet way with one another. Many more photos of their documented story to come. :)
When your bird has a great shape (like most birds do) and you have a bright background, consider making a silhouette by exposing for the background and letting the bird go completely black. To do this, use spot metering and meter on the background.
Read the tutorial on the blog:
"When you have come to the edge of all the light you have
And step into the darkness of the unknown
Believe that one of the two will happen to you
Either you'll find something solid to stand on
Or you'll be taught how to fly!"

As cool as the bubbles are on Abraham Lake, I loved the cracks where you could see how deep or thick the ice was. It was almost 3d.
Confetti fallin' from the sky
My hometown on the 4th of July
A midnight snow on Christmas Eve
Like standin' up for what you believe
That's how I feel when I'm with you
That's how I feel when I'm with you
That's how I feel
That's how I feel when I'm with you
Your lucky coat, the first day of fall
When you wake up laughin' just because
An old church door that stays wide open
A perfect heart that's never been broken
That's how I feel when I'm with you
Every day there's something new
To cry about, to laugh about
Those moments I can't live without
That's how I feel
That's how I feel
When I'm with you

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen!
Talk about a tulips with attitude!!!
You sure this is my best side?
I mean, you are the photographer, but still...
can you guarantee you ALWAYS get it right?
Ahem.
For years I 'experimented' in the studio, to get that Flemish painter's light? Well, I was born in Flanders, it must be in my blood? LOL.

Design Challenge entry: 'How many wheels does it take... by Su_G' in a flanged pillow (mockup c/o Roostery).
I didn't know that May 18 was Bike to Work day, but I love the question: "Will we find you cycling your way through this theme on one wheel, two wheels or three?" only why stop at three when you can have 24? My entry in Spoonflower's Cycling Design Challenge.

RIP Momma
Photo taken the day after my Mommas' passing.
She loved the ocean, the smell, the sounds of the surf, the bell, the gulls circling..
How she died was tragic.
Prefer to celebrate how she lived.
Well, this is how I do it anyway... there are programs that will do it for you as well but I don't have any of those. Do give it a try, it's quite addictive.
WMSR 1309 rounds the curve under the CSX Mountain Subdivision in Cumberland, MD with the 3:30 PM Polar Express train in tow. The sharp curve here shows the articulated steam locomotive pivoting around.
Oh how things have changed! Penn Central F7A 1840, cabless GP9B & F7A lead an eastbound manifest freight train under former New Haven Railroad wire and through Stamford, Connecticut, 1973. The roadbed and surround area look like a dump as compared to the way the area was previously maintained. This must have a hot summer day with the nose door open on F7A # 1840 for better ventilation. In the background you can see the Stamford passenger station.
