Pieces of lead and a plaster cast of the head of the Olympian Hermes. Wide-open, window light plus two LED lamps; edited in Raw Converter 3 and refined in Luminar 4.
... is usually reflected light. Usually, as being the case here, it comes from below, from the world of the living. My alter ego Hermes here is illuminated from below by four LED spotlights. I then processed the raw image in Fuji's raw converter, Luminar, and in macOS High Sierra photo editor. This plaster cast head, a copy of the Olympian Hermes by Praxiteles, has been man-handled by generations of art students before being exposed to my kind of photographic inquiry. It is still illuminating.

Hermes is going to change the livery of their buses in the Eindhoven region. The buses will loose their grey livery with yellow and blue and will get the standard livery of the province Noord-Brabant, white with a red front.
Hermes 3472, still in grey, arrives at the busstation next to the Eindhoven railway station.

Parcel shops and funerals somehow go well together.
Whether as travelling goods or people.
Alive or in an urn.
Do people fly or do they cycle?
Paketshop und Bestattungen passen irgendwie gut zusammen.
Ob als reisende Ware oder Mensch.
Lebend oder in einer Urne.
Fliegt der Mensch, oder fährt er mit dem Fahrrad?
This plaster cast head of the Olympian Hermes has been for years my photographic bouncing ball. Lens-wise, his face is my shooting range. This image was taken with the Helios 44M-7 at F11 (three LED lights).
Triple exposure, one LED light. Actually, I am less interested in the esoteric tradition of Hermeticism. The title (threefold great) goes of course back to antiquity. I tried to give visual expression to this title and discovered that the sculptor (Praxiteles I am told) had shaped Hermes' face in such a way that the size of eye and mouth is about the same. I find that astonishing.
A closer look at the Belvedere Hermes.
Hermes was the Greek god of trade and also the 'messenger god' (the Roman equivalent is Mercury). He is shown here as the guide of dead souls to the Underworld. The god has a downward and slightly sad gaze.
This was one of most admired of ancient Roman statues.

Having only built 5 such examples, i didn't expect to see one here in a country sooooooo small, it could not be even represented by a dot in the world map. xD
Yep it's Singapore.
Not sure if she's bought by a local collector or by the Sultan of Johor...
Fueling anticipation of its November opening, the temporary veiled facade of retailer Hermes changes once again, this time to an abstract winter motif.

The We're Here! gang is visiting the group "What's Your Technique?", where we are invited to try techniques that we haven't used before. For this image, I used the "lens correction" feature of Lightroom to straighten the building. It made a vast improvement, so I'm thrilled to have one more little tool that I can use on occasion when it's needed! Thanks, Dean-o!
In case you're confused by what you're seeing, Hermès is doing some renovations to their façade. The trees are real, and really in blossom.
