This is a homemade Hawaiian pizza using a dough recipe I found to make a Round Table Pizza clone. It came out the best of this type that I have made to date. I cut it into squares (party-cut) as is often done in Chicago and other pizza parlors in the Midwest.
The West Maui Mountains or West Maui Volcano, known to the Hawaiians as Maui Komohana and to geologists as Mauna Kahalawai, forms a much eroded shield volcano that constitutes the western one-quarter of the Hawaiian Island of Maui.
The three moku or districts of west Maui are Lāhaina, Kāʻanapali, and Wailuku. Wailuku is also known as Pūʻalikomohana, or Nā Wai ʻEhā which means the four waters. The 4 waters are the ahupuaʻa (smaller land division than district), which are Waikapū, Wailuku, Waiʻehu, and Waiheʻe.
The port of Lāhainā lies on the southwestern slope.
The summit peak is called Puʻu Kukui, at 5,788 feet (1,764 m) elevation.

The first IconLocal, hosted in Honolulu, brought together designers, developers, civic hackers, activists and community service providers to assist the homeless and the people who help them. An IconLocal supports The Noun Project, a movement to develop simple, universal, public domain symbols and icons to inform and guide the public across a variety of issues. The event was organized by Hawaii Open Data, in partnership with the Institute for Human Services, the governor's Interagency Council for the Homeless, and the Hawaii Community Development Authority.
Spent a couple of days visiting my parents, brother and nephew on the Big Island of Hawaii. But my real mission was to photograph dolphins that frequent the many bays on the Kona area. After two days of no shows, the third was a charm. We got to swim with the dolphins for several hours. Initially, the dolphins were very playful, picking up leaves with their fins, tail or mouth, jumping out of the water spinning in the air, being quite vocal and swimming right up to us to look us over. As time went on, they started to "sleep", swimming slower and deeper, coming up less often to breathe and being a lot less vocal. It was a magical time I was so happy to share with my wife, 2 kids and nephew.
Taken in the Cemetery at Painted Church (St Benedict Catholic Church), Captain Hook, Big Island, Hawaii. The Church is aptly named for the lovely painted interior- well worth a visit. Located on the Southwestern shore of the Big Island.
Taken during our photo lighting class at MCC. The instructor, Michael Gilbert, set up some of his great equipment and showed us how to use simple lighting to get great results. The Hawaiian guitarist was a volunteer "model", and we all had a great time.
According to legend, the ‘alae ‘ula brought fire from the volcano home of the gods to the Hawaiian people, and in the process acquired its bright red forehead.
HONOLULU, Hawaii - Over forty Alaska military personnel pose here June 14, 2013, for a fun, group shot on their way back from Tropic Care 2013. Forty-five Alaska military personnel from Air and Army National Guard and active-duty Air Force set up and ran medical clinics for medically-underserved Hawaiians on the islands of Lanai and Maui as part of an Innovative Readiness Training project June 4 to 12. The group joined about 500 other military personnel from multiple components of the Air Force, Army and Navy on four Hawaiian Islands at six sites as a joint training mission called TROPIC CARE 2013 – the largest IRT mission since the program began.
