Custom Mimban Mudtrooper version of Han Solo.

“You’re all clear kid. Now let’s blow this thing and go home!”

I was given the Death Star Trench Run set (75329) as a Father’s Day present. It’s a really fun build and intended to show an iconic moment in the film. But I don’t think the set shows the most iconic part of that sequence. The best part for me is when Han Solo swoops in, obliterating one Tie fighter, causing the other to collide with Vaders Tie, sending him spiralling off into space.

To turn the set into this moment I needed to first lengthen it by 16 studs on both the ground and back wall. I then needed to fill these areas staying faithful to the style from the main set, but still bringing in new textures and shapes.

Then of course, I needed to create my own Millennium Falcon to scale. The cockpit piece from the micro fighter Falcon set was the perfect place to start and a few hours later, this is the result. NOW it shows an iconic moment!

The rebel camp was located in the jungles of the planet Son-Tuul.

Comparing to the original Han Solo and Chewbacca Star Wars Black (plastic) 6-inch figures. You can see these "Elite" figures are a bit bigger than the Star Wars Black figures, since I'd expect Finn to be the same height as Han and Rey to be a little shorter.

My latest LEGO Star Wars Mini-Scale Kessel Run Millennium Falcon rendered by tz_machine and sized to an official LEGO® nano-scale minifig.

The Falcon contains 561 pieces.

I tried to get as much details into the tiny space as possible, which was quiet challenging, especially the recreation of the curved top panels as well as the extended front part.

I designed additional Landing Gear and a removable Landing Ramp to display the Falcon on it's own. Very important for me was to design the Falcon and stand in a very sturdy and robust way, so you can really swoosh around the Falcon without having to worry about the stability at any point.

With all those Chewie - Han Solo vignettes after the awesome Star Wars 7 trailer, could I not enter the fray? My way, obviously!

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run

Hollywood Studios - Orlando, FL USA

*[We flew the fastest ship in the galaxy

while hurtling through hyperspace! LOL]

*[The quite-amazing new STAR WARS exhibit opened just ten days

prior (to above) on December 5th, 2019. Since we were in Orlando

for a company holiday-party we checked it out. As expected, it was jammed in the daytime with a 90+ minute wait for the ride. We went back in the evening (with a 35 minute wait) and it was very cool! With everything all lit-up at night it was fantastic and we truly felt

as if we were on the Galaxy's Edge! A must for the Star Wars fan!]

*[Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set within the Star Wars universe, at the Black Spire Outpost village on the remote frontier planet of Batuu. Attractions include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a dark ride that places guests in a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance; and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, a flying simulator attraction that allows guests to pilot the Millenium Falcon through a customized secret mission on behalf of Hondo Ohnaka and Chewbacca. Restaurants and shops include Oga's Cantina, Savi's Workshop, and the Droid Depot. The land opened in 2019, replacing the park's Streets of America section. The 14-acre area cost an estimated $1 billion. - Probably why a park-ticket is $125.]

Kiss a Wookie Day is June 15

Outside the Cantina, there was a commotion of strange noises. It turns out that the whole place cleared out to see what was going on. The music had stopped as one of the musicians in the band had left the trio. He wanted to be first in line to 'Kiss the Wookie" today. But there were some grumblings going on.

"That's not the Wookie you're looking for."

"Use the force."

"Let the Wookie win."

"I've got a strange feeling about this."

"TK-421, why aren't you at your post?"

Now for the factual stuff:

Begun in 2005, this day marks when the invitation was made to ‘kiss a Wookie’, or as someone described him as that big furry walking carpet from the Star Wars Movies. The original scene with that reference line was in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ when Han Solo, Chewbacca’s companion, tries to ‘make a move’ on Princess Leia, but she replies, “I’d just as soon kiss a Wookie.” Han promply replies, “I can arrange that.”

Kisses are also one of the products of the Hershey Company, with plants in West Hershey, Pennsylvania. Milton Hershey began his company in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1894, producing chocolate caramels, breakfast cocoa, sweet chocolate, and baking chocolate. He later sold his caramel business and concentrated on chocolate-making.

On July 7, 1907 Hershey’s Kisses are introduced. Urban lore has it the treat was named for the lip-smacking sound of the machinery “kissing” the conveyor belt during the manufacturing process.

Automated wrapping is introduced to Kiss production in August of 1921. Before this technological innovation, Kisses were hand-wrapped. The distinctive paper plume is added at this time, to thwart imitators.

Today, 70 million Hershey's Kisses are produced everyday at the factory; the machines run 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and enough Kisses are produced annually to form a line more than 300,000 miles long.

In a 12 ounce bag, you will find around 72 Kisses, and you will need 5 bags to supply you with one Kiss per day (save for 5 days—do the math!) It beats kissing a Wookie!

So, today you began regaling an event from Star Wars, but ended up wanting to go to the store to stock up on Hershey Kisses! Another 'food' Flickr post from RevDrPepper!

We also pause to remember Peter Mayhew, the actor who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars movie.

Happy Birthday, Harrison Ford!

July 13 marks the birthday to one of film’s talented actor, Harrison Ford. He is known best for his portrayal of Han Solo in the Star Wars movies, as well as Indiana Jones in the series of movies including his character in the title.

Harrison Ford was born on July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, to Dorothy (Nidelman), a radio actress, and Christopher Ford (born John William Ford), an actor turned advertising executive. His father was of Irish and German ancestry, while his maternal grandparents were Jewish emigrants from Minsk, Belarus. Harrison was a lackluster student at Maine Township High School East in Park Ridge Illinois (no athletic star, never above a C average). After dropping out of Ripon College in Wisconsin, where he did some acting and later summer stock, he signed a Hollywood contract with Columbia and later Universal. His roles in movies and television (Ironside (1967), The Virginian (1962)) remained secondary and, discouraged, he turned to a career in professional carpentry. He came back big four years later, however, as Bob Falfa in American Graffiti (1973). Four years after that, he hit colossal with the role of Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). Another four years and Ford was Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).

Four years later and he received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for his role as John Book in Witness (1985). All he managed four years after that was his third starring success as Indiana Jones; in fact, many of his earlier successful roles led to sequels as did his more recent portrayal of Jack Ryan in Patriot Games (1992). Another Golden Globe nomination came his way for the part of Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive (1993). He is clearly a well-established Hollywood superstar. He also maintains an 800-acre ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Han Solo and Chewbacca try to repair the Millenium Falcon

- The Empire Strikes Back -

"We need to get the Death Star plans out of Berlin!"

("Going somewhere, Solo?")

We have been under a Windchill Advisory since Sunday that doesn’t expire until Wednesday. Windchill values range from -20F (-28.89C) to -35F (-37.22C).

Some nice quality photos of another updated version of my replica of the DL-44 blaster, the iconic sidearm given to Han Solo by Tobias Beckett.

I think the only thing left to give a solid update would be the handle, but I have yet to find a design I like.

Enjoy!

Through the creations that I build, I hope to inspire other young (or perhaps older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity. We all need a positive way to express ourselves, so let's allow LEGO to be an extension of us. Your creativity belongs to you, and nobody can take that away. Build what you want to build, and how you want to build it.

"I've got a really good feeling about this" - LEGO Han Solo

Long time no update! But I'm back!

I've been wanting to update my original trilogy Millennium Falcon model for a while (built that one way back in 2013!), and after seeing the Solo movie I figured it was definitely time. The extended-front look of this Falcon has definitely grown on me since spending time designing and building the model.

Besides (obviously)adding the escape pod, this model has major detail upgrades from the previous one I built, including rear engine, side pods, and top and bottom cannons. It was insanely fun planning enough space and figuring out how to build the entry ramp and landing gear so they all worked (check out the video to see the ramp and pod at least). I also built 2 display bases so the falcon and it's escape pod can be displayed either together, or separately. Added bonus: the escape pod display base can also display the whole falcon in a dramatic launch pose.

I asked Han to do the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs in order to smuggle in some supplies such as toilet roll & soap.

He made it back in 14 parsecs. I found this unacceptable so he now adorns my fridge in his carbonite prison until I decide it's time for him to make amends for his error!

Han doesn't know what that light's coming from, but he aims to find out.

The Han Solo is the first, and so far only, Black Series figure I own. But I'm thinking the collection needs to expand.

What do you think of the Black Series, and who are your favorite figures from the line?

Have fun, and happy collecting!
