A court in Ecuador has found Chevron guilty of massive environmental pollution and human rights violations in the Amazon, and has ordered the company to pay $8 billion to clean it up. But Chevron has vowed to appeal the decision, and clearly plans to stall indefinitely, hoping never to pay its due. So the Change Chevron team got together with our friends and allies at Amazon Watch, Greenpeace, Global Exchange, and Communities for a Better Environment (of Richmond, CA) headed down to Chevron’s HQ in San Ramon, CA, and delivered a message to the company: Chevron was found guilty because the company is guilty. Time to accept responsibility and clean up the oily mess in Ecuador!

Rodriguez, along with many older people, often lamented the loss of newspaper culture, while secretly feeling guilty that he no longer had the time to read them.
So, he booked an hour off work, and set out into the heart of Cape Town to buy an Argus. This was harder than he thought. There wasn't a CNA to be found anywhere these days, and none of the cafes seemed to stock newspapers anymore. He had to go to a homeless shelter where they were sold as blankets to get one.
"Fourteen rand? Are you getik?!" In his day a paper cost a rand, while fourteen rand could by you a meal, and if you went to the right sort of places, a beer too.
Begrudgingly, he paid and made off with his find. "No wonder no one reads any more. You must be a bloody Rocketfeller just to own a bloody paper."
A prominent casualty in the War on the Poor, aka Official DA Policy, were the benches that used to dot the Grand Parade and other places in town. He perched precariously on a concrete.... something or other and set out to read.
And instantly regretted it. Government propaganda, celebrity sleaze and vacuous filler prieces. No wonder everyone was always on their facebooks. He resolved that he would buy one of those. Just as soon as he finished this piece about the dude from Horrible Housekeepers.

The first Beeching report in 1963 identified 2,363 stations and 5,000 miles (8,000 km) of railway line for closure, amounting to 55% of stations, 30% of route miles, and the loss of 67,700 British Rail jobs
Protests resulted in the saving of some stations and lines, but the majority were closed as planned. Beeching's name remains associated with the mass closure of railways and the loss of many local services in the period that followed. A few of these routes have since reopened. Some short sections have been preserved as heritage railways, while others have been incorporated into the National Cycle Network

Willow decided to take her rest on the living room couch last night. She been sleeping downstairs because of the heat upstairs, so it's easy for her to sneak up on the couch where she knows she's forbidden. lol!

It can't be serious all the time. Captain Bob Gardner reacts to getting his glasses shaving creamed at the old Bloomington Fire Headquarters as David Oney makes good his escape. Paybacks were always possible .

There are some unfortunate individuals out there who always look like they just did something wrong and are trying hard to act innocent.
Anyway, although I am unaware of any hideous crimes committed in Østensjøvannet Wildlife Preserve on this particular day, I feel very strongly that this is the guy who did it. Being a Greylag Goose (Anser anser, Grågås) is just no excuse.
