This was Lucy, still in the box, after I 'rescued' her from the top of the fridge/freezer. Is there a hint of contrition in those eyes ... or is she just plotting the next adventure? :)

Strip search Pastors strip to expose refugees as people
Eight Church leaders faced court in Perth this morning. The group pleaded guilty and were given a spent conviction with three month conditional release (they cannot be charged or convicted of an offence in that time). Following a court hearing in Perth this morning 5 Christian leaders have stripped to just their undergarments and placards reading “Refugees are People” and are currently walking from Perth Court to Foreign Minister Julie Bishop’s Subiaco office, calling for the release of the 135 children currently locked-up on Nauru and for an end to offshore detention.
“Attempts to humiliate and deter us have failed and we are more determined than ever to see the dignity of people in immigration detention recognised,” said Pastor Jarrod McKenna of WestCity Church of Christ.
“For those who seek to deter us we have a simple message: at the centre of our faith is a symbol of torture that God transformed into a symbol of love. There is nothing you can throw at us that we can’t see transformed for the freedom of others,” said Pastor McKenna.
This action comes after eight Christian leaders faced Perth court earlier this morning over a peaceful sit-in last month at the office of Foreign Minister Julie Bishop. The eight Christian leaders were arrested, strip searched and charged with trespass on 10 December 2014 after the peaceful sit-in which was part of the #LoveMakesAWay national day of action. Love Makes a Way is a national movement of Christians seeking an end to Australia's inhumane asylum seeker policies through prayer and nonviolent love in action.
“The Human Rights Law Centre described the strip-searches of peaceful protesters as ‘deeply concerning’,” said Pastor McKenna.
“Instead of strip searching Church leaders our nation needs to be searching its heart for a humane response to those seeking safety,” he said.
“Even if you strip-search us, even if you make us squat and cough, even if you threaten us, we will not stop fighting for freedom of all people in detention. We believe that love makes a way,” said Teresa Lee, co-founder of First Home Project who faced court earlier today after participating in the peaceful sit-in last month.
“Refugees are people, it is as simple as that. All people deserve to have a safe home and not one of the 1930 people currently locked up in detention deserve to have their future frozen indefinitely,” she said.
“Today we call on the Government to make a public commitment to release the 135 children currently imprisoned on Nauru. These children have been cruelly shipped off, locked-up, and left in limbo, deprived of their precious childhoods,” said Reverend Lorna Green, Anglican Rector of Serpentine-Jarrahdale who also faced court earlier today.
“We say to these children and all those people locked up on Manus Island and Nauru: we see you and we won’t give up on you,” said Pastor Alex McKellar from WA’s largest church, Riverview, also among the eight who faced court for the December action at the Foreign Minister's office.

A court in Ecuador has found Chevron guilty of massive environmental pollution and human rights violations in the Amazon, and has ordered the company to pay $8 billion to clean it up. But Chevron has vowed to appeal the decision, and clearly plans to stall indefinitely, hoping never to pay its due. So the Change Chevron team got together with our friends and allies at Amazon Watch, Greenpeace, Global Exchange, and Communities for a Better Environment (of Richmond, CA) headed down to Chevron’s HQ in San Ramon, CA, and delivered a message to the company: Chevron was found guilty because the company is guilty. Time to accept responsibility and clean up the oily mess in Ecuador!

"North Street was a major link from Dock Square to the North End in 1885, and is poised to become so once again now that the elevated Central Artery is coming down. The artery cut North Street in two; it is discontinuous but it can be found both north and south of the highway. Buildings on the right are all gone, victims of an Artery ramp; a hotel gobbled up most of the ones on the left, but guiltily mimicked them in general form. 1885. Boston."

I had a craving for a steak, and so I went to Outback Steakhouse and had myself a Ribeye steak. When I grew up, I knew the Ribeye as a Delmonico steak, but a Delmonico can vary from where you are in the world.
A good ribeye is fantastic and cannot be beat. A bad ribeye cut, even if cooked well, is such a disappointment. This one from Outback was a mediocre cut. I probably could've gotten a similar cut from a good butcher (but there is no good butcher in Lansing). It was however cooked to a perfect medium rare. Lately, whenever I go to a restaurant, I get an overcooked steak. Even Dusty's managed to serve me a medium steak. I didn't send it back, but I did make a note to my waitress. This steak was on the rare side of medium rare, which is just how I like it.
Whenever you order a steak, it's a tough thing to do well, to cook just right, so if it's off, I'll let the server know to tell the cook, and if it's spot on, I have no hesitation letting the kitchen know that they did fantastic.
Whenever I'm at Outback, I get fries because I don't really care, so I just get whatever comes out quickly.
My favorite steak is the porterhouse, but I think that's a cop out, because a porterhouse is just a strip steak and filet mignon joined by bone. So, if you disqualify the porterhouse, then my favorite steak is the ribeye.
EDIT - It seems that this steak is actually closer to rare than medium rare, which, as it happens, is how I like my steaks. I now officially feel like an idiot, because I complained at the last steakhouse I went to that they overcooked my steak, but it was actually exactly medium rare. Doh.
FGR today asked us to admit our guilty pleasures. Mine is TiVo. I love the damn thing. Not as much as Jamie, but more than my daughter some days. THAT's how much I love TiVo.
The problem? I don't feel guilty about it!
