This is a DDG T2D creation.
I wanted to say a little bit more about the process: I usually go back and forth between DDG and PC (Gimp/G'mic) several times. In this image I really wanted to create the clear crystal ice structure as well as the dreamy mood coupled with a nice dof. I did this part on the PC using Gimp/G'mic. The development of the colors was done mostly on DDG.
The image is slightly textured using the saturation as a guideline to give the soft colors just this little bit of a lift - I hope you enjoy the result!

Looking up Glacier Park's Josephine Lake at 2 glacier's that feed multiple lakes, rivers, streams, fish, wildlife and varied ecosystems. Salamander glacier on the top and Grinnell glacier in the basin below it. Mt. Gould posted yesterday on the left and a portion of the Garden Wall in the center.
As of 2017, "The warming climate has dramatically reduced the size of 39 glaciers in Montana since 1966, some by as much as 85 percent. On average, the glaciers have reduced by 39 percent and only 26 glaciers are now larger than 25 acres, which is used as a guideline for deciding if bodies of ice are large enough to be considered glaciers.
Early last century there were an estimated 150 glaciers larger than 25 acres in Glacier National Park." USGS.org
Soon, if not presently, both of these glaciers, and many others, will no longer be large enough to be classified as glaciers.
Not looking to be a downer but do want to share that such precious and fragile beauties like this may soon be irreparably altered and damaged. Tragic....
Enjoy the first weekend of Spring!

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a complication of pulmonary embolism and a major cause of chronic PH leading to right heart failure and death. Lung ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy is the screening test of choice; a normal scan rules out CTEPH. In the case of an abnormal perfusion scan, a high-quality pulmonary angiogram is necessary to confirm and define the pulmonary vascular involvement and prior to making a treatment decision. PH is confirmed with right heart catheterisation, which is also necessary for treatment determination. In addition to chronic anticoagulation therapy, each patient with CTEPH should receive treatment assessment starting with evaluation for pulmonary endarterectomy, which is the guideline recommended treatment. For technically inoperable cases, PH-targeted medical therapy is recommended (currently riociguat based on the CHEST studies), and balloon pulmonary angioplasty should be considered at a centre experienced with this challenging but potentially effective and complementary intervention.
A view of Laguna Nichupte on the west side of Cancun Mexico. Laguna Nichupte lies between the Cancun outer bank and the mainland. All the hotels are situated on the outer bank. On the east side of the Cancun is the Caribbean Sea and the the island of Cazumel.
On the lateral accesses in the front facade, two Towers stand out: North and South. Both have the same characteristics: quadrangular base, and are located symmetrically with respect to the center of the facade arch. However, these are inconclusive, as two sections and their respective points are missing. The original proposals of these missing parts are of Gothic characteristics.
Inside, the vertical guideline dominates the space, in which large windows with semicircular arches open. All this harmonizes with the rest of the building. Additionally, the Towers were designed to house bells, clocks and vertical connectors. This would connect the Side Ships with the East Choir and with the Santa Ana Terrace.
Macro Mondays: Stone

I purchased this little necklace charm while on a trip to Dominican Republic a few years ago. The rare blue pectolite stone, called Larimar, is unique and found only in the Dominican Republic. I thought it would be a fitting souvenir to buy and wear to remember the trip. There were many styles of Larimar jewellery to choose from but it didn't take me long to decide on this little charm shaped like a flip flop sandal, it seemed perfect since I was on a Caribbean vacation afterall. I haven't worn it in a long time but today while I was researching about it I found out that it is a healing stone to be worn by people who are stressed as it works to bring balance and harmony with your energies to achieve overall calm, relaxation and unity within oneself. Hey, that's me! If I had known this I would have never taken it off. 😂 Whether or not that is true, I think it is interesting...
Thanks for your visit and Happy Macro Monday! I hope you are having a great day!
High key Fuchsia and tiny stones found on the beach for this weeks challenge. The flower is tiny, no more than 1cm and the stones are tiny too! The whole thing measures far less than the 3" guideline.
"Run", I thought. "Run faster". All to catch this tugboat as it quickly travelled toward the setting sun. I was out of place for the shot, but find tugboats, and their hard working crews of interest. The shot follows the guideline of thirds, and turned out interesting enough, romanticizing the crew speeding off into the sunset. Do you know who is considered responsible for discovering "The Rule of Thirds"? If you said Leonardo De Vinci, you would be right.
Or rather, it was he who recognized the importance of subject placement. The guideline had otherwise always been there. In his art, he recognized that where those lines intersect, are the 4 points of tension in his art. So, it you want tension in your work of art, say thanks to Leonardo, he is certainly one worth following.

Macro Mondays theme: Bubbles
For this week's theme, I used a miniature dried rose bud submerged in sparkling water. Fortunately, the rose captured a lot of the tiny bubbles released by the sparkling water. And the color came out nicely.
The whole picture is well below the 3” guideline.

I've had this little pocket sized bottle opener for a few years. It was the prize that came inside a Christmas Cracker and has come in handy on more than one occasion. It is 2" in height and 1.25" across. Image has been cropped to fit the 3" size guideline limits for the group.

With landscape elements like this - blue water, white alkaline deposits - and warm morning light, any bird would look great. That most of the birds present were American Avocets put it over the top for me, and I ended up working this relatively small area for a couple of hours (with one 15-minute break in the car to warm up, as the morning was much colder than it looks).
This pond is part of a larger wetland area along the margins of Chaplin Lake, which forms critical habitat for migratory birds. The saline waters produce huge numbers of brine shrimp, which in turn feed countless shorebirds, waterfowl, gulls, and other migratory species en route to their breeding grounds.
These avocets were easy to photograph, as they quickly accepted my presence while I alternately sat and lay flat in a not-too-damp spot near the shore. Part of success in wildlife photography - or any photography - is recognizing when you're onto something good. This may seem obvious, but it isn't always so. For years I watched my students misjudge a situation and spend too much time in an unproductive location or walk away from some fantastic light because they didn't see its potential. There is no substitute for experience, but sometimes a little nudge or hint from a good instructor can serve as a useful guideline.
The other side of that - and the difficulty in teaching any of the visual arts - lies in not wanting to interfere with real creativity. It's good to experiment with unpromising materials, and it's good to fail, because that's how we learn. Years ago, someone asked me, "How do you teach photography? CAN you teach photography?" My answer was, "I don't know." I can certainly teach exposure and depth of field and how to behave around wildlife and being aware of the light. The creative part? That is our personal journey. We do that part alone.

For Project 365 2022 Edition: 1/365.
For Project 100 2022 Edition: 1/100
Impulsively I decided to jump in and join two project groups.
Project 365 requires taking a photo every day of the year and posting it. I am not placing any constraints on this one. The photo could be taken with either the Canon Rebel with any lens, or with the Smartphone.
Project 100 requires taking 100 photos on a particular theme during the year. I have chosen these constraints: 1) It must be taken at a work table I have in my office, 2) It must be macro or closeup. I want to make do with the situation available and treat it as a studio. 3) Not a rule, but a guideline: as much as possible I'll use found objects from my walks and combine them with whatever else I have at hand to create a whimsical and/or abstract image.
I had been thinking about trying to do more photography in my office of found objects from my walks. Two days ago I picked up this small spruce cone with the intention of photographing it when I got home. Here it has sat. In the dry indoor air it opened and began releasing seeds. Today I decided on impulse to start the 100x and 365 project. With the same impulse, I grabbed the cone and wrapped it with some nice wool/silk fibre I had on hand for spinning yarn. It was whimsical and unplanned, which is precisely the spirit I want to bring to the project. From there I can spend as much effort as I like composing and processing the photo.
Thank you to everyone who visits, faves, and comments.
Macro Mondays: Glass (cropped to fit the 3" size guideline limit)
One day I spotted this vase with mini flowers on it and had to buy it. It was an impulse buy but one that I've never regretted. It is a very cute single stem vase which I use mostly for gerbera daisies or tulips. The glass is clear but I used pink paper underneath for a background colour.
Thanks very much for your visit. HMM!
I'm in a really bad headspace. The cases at work in the schools here are skyrocketing and several of my students and coworkers have tested positive in the last week or two. Kids and staff who always wear their masks and who have never gotten sick before are getting Covid for the first time in 2 years and there are others still who are getting it a second or third time.
Meanwhile, because masks are technically optional now, (which violates a contractual safety agreement) kids are coming to school unvaccinated, unmasked, and often sick because we have both poor health care options and no flexibility for mothers who can't take more time off to quarantine. I spend most of the day feeling anxious, getting coughed on and with constant fluids and germs, which was typical before the pandemic as I work in closer proximity to kids and see kids with physical, cognitive and/or sensory needs aged 3-21 but with the added stress of Coronavirus being a much more dangerous thing to catch. There's a 5 day guideline through the CDC and most people are still symptomatic after 5 days so they are coming back sick infecting others. It's so bad that there aren't even enough healthy substitute teachers to cover for all of the sick teachers who are out.
Meanwhile, we've been told by so called public health experts the last few months that Omicron is mild and we should treat it like an itty bitty flu and Reuters came out with a larger study that suggests that was all a complete lie. www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/omicr...
I am not sure what it is going to take for people to make safe choices for themselves and others but relying on our government either for accurate information at this point or any type of safeguards is completely futile and for people like myself who always double mask indoors and don't even eat indoors, I feel like I'm in a sort of Twilight Zone surrounded by coworkers and students acting recklessly who will spread this to me eventually and that it is only a matter of time.
I should mention I have heard of a lot of mysterious deaths not attributed to Covid but seemingly connected for otherwise healthy people my age or even younger who were infected with Covid and likely died from complications. In my country, if you die from stroke or heart attack, for example, even if the main cause was Covid, it's not counted as a Covid death. (This is another way they can get away with under reporting or acting like this is a non issue now)
And again, at this same time, there are a lot of people who act as if wearing a mask is the worst punishment they can possibly endure and that everything is fine. Our current publicized rates as a city are around 5% but the Covid % in our waste water tells a different story. It is highly likely that most people aren't reporting positive rapid tests they take at home (apparently only one in 70 tests may be reported) and I think there are a lot of people who have just given up on getting tested unless they are really sick.
So what does all this mean? Well, in America, we have always had huge inequities when it comes to health care so now we're going to have more of the same only with a growing percentage of a work force with long Covid symptoms and increased suffering. I guess all of that is ok as long as those billionaires, keep getting richer, though. I would hate for Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos to have to give up a trip to space on behalf of having a shred of humanity and empathy for others.

The low tides at Snickett Park, reveal treasures for a brief period of time. Barnacles and algae coat the rocks, while tiny pebbles are beached in a kind of pocket estuary. While the waves become less violent, the sky begins its journey through color.
Together, the quickly changing colored sky, and gently frothing waves deliver a pleasing sight. Note too, it is a guideline to never divide the image in half. Typically one third sky or foreground. But, a 60/40 split seemed more appropriate considering both halves were changing and equally part of the story. As well, the incoming water somewhat mirrored the twisting color in the sky.

Heavy atmospheric pollution causes the sun to rise as a yellow/orange sphere seen through the smog.
The air-quality index (AQI) in Kottayam is reported to be 103, and the PM 2.5 concentration is 7 times the WHO guideline. To put this in perspective, the AQI in New Delhi is ~250 today, and the PM 2.5 is 40 times the WHO guideline.
Two-image exposure blend (1/200 sec and 1/3200 sec).
A small section of one of my succulent plants. I bought it because it had little freckles of pink on its leaves. 💕 Something a little different than the other plants I have in the house and since I looooove pink, well the rest is history and now it lives on my kitchen windowsill.

Macro Mondays theme : "The First Letter of My Surname"
My surname begins with the letter “T”.
And since I am longing for spring, I bought a nice bouquet of Tulips to get a head start.
These tulips are not as big as the regulars ones. Closed, they are merely 1” in diameter.
Anyhow, I made sure to respect the 3” guideline.

"FREEDOM"
We are all captive, mostly repressed all chained up tethered, feeling sadly oppressed ....
All we want is .... warm breeze in our hair, sun on our backs not much to be fare ....
Gently strolling the arboretum,
white doves fly up!
now that's freedom ....
A pick-a-me-up ....
The birds fly high, soaring so free .... "Oh, how I wish thy could be me "....
Original poetry.

This image is only just over 2 inches x 2 inches, so well within the MM 3 x 3 inch maximum guideline.
Each link of this old rusty chain measures 2 inches in length.
This chain is really strong and used in the past to support car engine removals using a hoist.
Macro Mondays theme : Curves
For this week theme I chose to use this young Tillandsia (an airplant) that serves as hair for a clay figurine. To respect the 3” guideline you only see the upper part of the figurine which represents a young man sitting down his head resting on his knees.
The Tillandsia gently curved “leaves” naturally guide the eyes to the head of the dreamy figurine. The curve of the vase used to create the head returns the attention to the plant.

Bearings stuck by magic magnetism.
I inherited this magnet along with the contents of several grandfathers’ workshops. It must be older than I am. I think it's not wearing as well though, except, perhaps first thing in the morning when we’re about equal ;) . I loved the textures and colours of the peeling paint.
I rotated the image to provide a bit more visual interest, an excuse to smile, and to remind us of magnetism’s gravity-defying antics.
A happy accident in some early trial shots showed that this lens can make rather pretty stars if the light is right and the aperture really small so I went back and took some more...
This image is for the week’s Macro Monday group theme Stick. The magnet and bearings together measure just over two inches so we are within the group’s guideline even including the space on the right. Yey!
Thanks for taking time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Monday! :)
[Tripod mount; delayed shutter, VR off; LED torch lighting very close and to the side; black cloth background. In LR altered colour temperature for a more blue cast to contrast with the red paint; rotated, flipped and cropped to size with a wide format. Vibrance and clarity raised to bring out the paint textures; a bit of playing with the individual colour ranges to add interest. Topaz Detail for most of the sharpening. In Photo a bit of clarity and Unsharp Mask, sharpening the magnet and the bearings but not the stars, using a layer mask.]

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.
A single use surgical-style face mask worn to the point that it is fluffy. That mask must be a Petri dish of disease in itself!
With a two metre distancing guideline still in force in Scotland and my usual style of getting closer than that in my candid shots, I found it really difficult to judge the distance and consequently had to crop this shot a little more than I would like. Stay safe everyone!

Macro Mondays theme: #Crack
As you may have already guessed, I can’t say that no walnut was harmed during this photoshoot. But using a sledgehammer to crack a nut? Did anyone ever tell you that you are nuts? There must be a better way to do this! This is driving me nuts!

Everyone struggled with inner demons and conflicts. It was a natural part of life and Jorgia Prynce was not exempt. Since she was young, she’d always struggled with doing the right thing. Rules were sometimes meant for others. Laws were a often loose guideline for what you could do, but nothing serious. You could stray from authority, so long as you were doing something good… right?
“Who’s idea of protecting people is this?!”
Jorgia could still hear the woman's shrill voice as she cried out and went down. Unspeakable crimes her husband called it. She supposed that was exactly what this was. His word held less weight for Jorgia as she knew he was under the effects of a powerful love spell, inflicted on him by the woman he called a wife. Had he know the truth behind his ‘darling wife’ and the cursed child they had produced, he’d have run for his life and rightfully so. The woman's wand fired green streaks of deadly magic at the group sent to handle the situation. With one of them already down, the rest began their real work. Exterminate one foretold to rival the evil of history’s darkest Wizards. The Unspeakable Auror’s Department was a new section of the DLME… Unofficially at least. Officially? The department didn’t exist. The Ministry couldn’t publicly admit to having a secret group of Aurors and public officials who ‘stopped catestropy by any means necessary’. Of course they didn’t take this work lightly and all cases had to be investigated through the use of time-turners and alteration theory (different choices produce different outcomes), but when all paths lead to genocide, muggle or wixen, action had to be taken.
Now she stood in front of a mirror, her body covered in scrapes and bruises from the fight but her mind equally marked from the ordeal. Her chest rose and fell slowly while she stared into her own eyes, digging through her memories and reliving them. She didn’t bother focusing on what she saw… she’d relive that for the rest of her life. Instead Jorgia focused on what she felt during the whole thing. Fear. Anger. Frustration. But deep down, she could sense it. Clear as day, even behind the subconscious ignorance of it. Adrenaline. Excitement. An eagerness. She liked it. She liked it much more than she wanted to admit. As she let her thoughts race, a voice she hadn’t heard in over a year crawled into the back of her mind and chuckled menacingly.
“It’s in your blood, Jorgia Lagorio. You were born for this. Now make your father proud.”
