Amalienborg Palace is the place to be to see a Changing the Guard ceremony in Denmark.

Amalienborg, Capital, Denmark

The Royal Life Guards is a mechanized infantry regiment of the Danish Army, founded in 1658 by King Frederik III. The primary task is to provide a number of soldiers from the Guard Company to serve as a guard/ceremonial unit to the Danish monarchy, while training the Royal Guards for various functions in the mobilisation force.

I really feel sorry for art gallery guards who have to spend their whole day in galleries mainly empty of visitors. I can't begin to imagine the boredom.

Image from last month when I was doing a morning hike in the Biesbosch. Searching for some old trees I found this spot with some trees and spend some time to make this shot.

During one of the 'touristy' trips in Delhi, I met up with some fellow photographers and we went to Tughlaqabad Fort among a number of other places. In retrospect, going there around noon probably wasn't one of my brightest ideas. Delhi can be cruelly hot during summer and inconceivably bad during that time of the day. This one poor man was left there by himself to guard the vast 6.5sqkm area since it wasn't a tourist season and not many people were expected. Torture can take many forms for those without options.

As for the shot, the light was abhorrently flat. I tried to make a nice HDR out of this particular image with multiple EVs, but its a disaster.

Unexpected 3 day weekend for a number of reasons so why not go somewhere unexpected? Hit up Athens Georgia today (home of the University of Georgia) and walked around. The staircase in the garage we parked in was cool. Got yelled at by security guard for "loitering" taking pictures so told the guy one more shot and then decided to pull out the tripod and go HDR a few times. Got a dirty look as I walked away but got a cool shot too, so win-win.

#2 of 4 new uploads for Sunday....

Spotted this mamma & her young one alongside the road in Little America. It was obvious that they wanted to cross the road but the traffic was somewhat heavy at the time, and of course, was complicated by the fact that people wanted to slow down & take pictures. The situation reminded me of a crossing guard at our local elementary schools, watching & waiting for an opportunity to get the children across the road safely.

Have a great Sunday....be safe & enjoy. And as always, thanks for stopping by to visit :-)

This image was taken at Lake Eola Park in Orlando, Florida. This mother duck was standing guard over her babies and if you look close you will see an unhatched egg. I can tell you that you don't want to get to close as this mother will attack and bit.

Needs to be viewed LARGE or ORIGINAL if you have time... thanks....

Chinese soldier guarding Tiananmen gate of the Forbidden City. I traveled to Beijing for one day and was fascinated by the sites. Tiananmen square felt a little like North Korea and a little like Tirana in 1990. I was overtaken by a strange sensation and an indescribable feeling of nostalgia even though it was a place I’ve never been to.

Guarding the front door

Looked in the rafters of my bbq patio and saw mama here pulling nest duty.

This was only the second time the ceremonial Changing of the Guard had happened since the global nuisance occurred. It was good to see more normality returning.

The cobra was considered the guardian of water and treasure. Zoomorphic sculptures of multi headed cobras have been found at the sluices of reservoirs, and at the four corners of relic chambers enshrined in “dagabas”

The concept of protection could have arisen out of popular belief that when people die they are reincarnated as cobras to protect the treasures they had buried in their previous lives.

They tried every trick in the book to get the guard to flinch. Prague Castle.
