ZANDVOORT AAN ZEE - At the end of 2007, the Coast Guard (Kustwacht) took the two current aircraft into service. These Dornier Do228s are managed by Defense, which also supplies some of the crew members. The Dorniers are mainly used for control and observation flights over the North Sea. Incidentally, the aircraft are also deployed elsewhere in Europe, such as recently above Greece. Schiphol Airport is home to the Coast Guard.

Santa Ifigenia Cemetery (Spanish: Cementerio Santa Ifigenia) is a cemetery in Santiago de Cuba and resting place of a few notable Cubans inluding Fidel Castro.
The cemetery opened in 1868 to replace smaller Cemetery of Santa Ana.[1]
The signature resting place is that of José Martí, whose mausoleum is guarded by three Cuban soldiers at the entrance. A round-the-clock guard of the mausoleum is changed, amid much pomp and ceremony, every 30 minutes.

On our recent North Carolina trip we decided to take a pontoon boat ride down the Intracoastal Waterway. The tour boat was rocking around quite a bit that morning, but I did manage to capture this osprey nest atop one of the channel markers.
She was none too happy about our boat even approaching the marker, even though we were just cruising by. This time of year it's not uncommon for the nests to be housing Osprey chicks, as breeding season is from March to May in the Carolinas.
They are very beautiful (in an angry bird sort of way), and certainly a bit of a challenge to photograph w/ only a pair of sea legs to help keep things steady! ;)

This crow was being very vocal on the gate. It gave me a good laugh when I saw the sign. That crow was making sure that no one disobeyed that sign.
According to Google, A Rajasthani Wooden Guard (or Chowkidar/Darbaan) is a traditional, hand-carved wooden figurine from India symbolizing protection and heritage, depicting royal guards in traditional attire.
There was another on the other side of the doorway of this restaurant, but I didn't get a picture of both that I liked.

Slender Tailed Meerkat (Suricata suricatta)
Meerkats are members of the mongoose family that live together in complex social groupings. They grow to be 10 to 14 inches long with a tail length that nearly doubles that. Meerkats have a slow metabolism, which allows them to live comfortably in natural environments with consistently warm temperatures. They spend most of their time foraging, basking in the sun and grooming, all except for this one which is currently on sentry duty, keeping an eye out for danger from eagles etc.

If you ever see a guy wearing a suit and a camera backpack hiking through the woods, it's probably me (who else does that?).
I always have my camera with me when I'm traveling for work. And when I see something interesting near the road and have some time, I spontaneously go on a little exploration tour.
So today I came to this cool forest, which is not far from the motorway near Ludwigsfelde. Shortly before a parking lot I saw a few of these “forest creatures” out of the corner of my eye. So I parked my car there and walked back. Luckily, all motorway parking lots have a rear exit that is always open. I've taken advantage of this several times.
On my way back I had to go through this group of mossy guards. who stand here and take a closer look at everyone who wants to pass by. Luckily they did let me through. I was immediately completely fascinated by this sight.
I first made a much brighter version of this scene and then decided on this one. On the one hand, I think it can convey the mystical atmosphere better and, on the other hand, because the mossy branches are shown off better here.
I also took a few close-up photos, so you'll be able to get a closer look for yourself shortly.

The Presidential Guard (Greek: Προεδρική Φρουρά, romanized: Proedrikí Frourá) is a ceremonial infantry unit that guards the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Presidential Mansion in Athens, Greece. The unit is distinguished as the last unit of Evzones in the Hellenic Army, and is closely associated with the traditional Evzone's uniform, which evolved from the clothes worn by the klephts in the Greek War of Independence. The most visible item of this uniform is the fustanella, a kilt-like garment. In 1868–1914 and 1937–1973 (with interruptions), the guard also included a cavalry company.
