Some people do not grow old they just get rusty.

A series of four sculptures by Hannah Kidd called Avonside Drive. Avonside Drive is alongside the Avon River, but was declared unsuitable for housing after the Christchurch earthquakes and so now it is 80% unpopulated.

Methven based sculptor Hannah Kidd predominantly crafts and welds sculptural creations from steel rod and corrugated iron as a means to investigate people and the relationships they have with their surrounding environment. Hannah Kidd graduated in 2001 from the Otago Polytechnic School of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in sculpture.

She has quickly risen to critical acclaim and her distinctive and unique work has been exhibited around the world, including I'm sure I've seen that before in Vienna, Austria (2002); Sculpture by the Sea, Australia (2007, 2009, 2011), and Sculpture by the Sea, Denmark (2009, 2011), along with numerous group and solo exhibitions throughout New Zealand.

A small winter series.

The night view of this town is really great. The balance of this housing complexes and high-rise buildings thinks that exquisite. By time to visit this town on the next time, I want to make many friends living in the high-rise house.

この街の夜景は最高に素晴らしい。 この団地と高層ビルのバランスが絶妙だと思います。 次回この街を訪れる時までには、高層住宅に住む友達を作りたいと思います。

I didn't see Kanga for two weeks, but boy did she grow! She needs to put on weight to survive the cold days, but it's still amazing how fast it goes (Squirrels-2020-8704.jpg)

As I let the sunflowers grow where they will, I've been slow to mow the backyard for fear I ruin the sunflower show.

This image is from a shoot I did in London last month and it's perfect for this idea I have had that I have been wanting to do for such a long time now. Its about growing in to the life we live after going through big changes. In a way its about feeling a little more rooted because big changes make you feel like a plant thats been taken out of its pot or pulled up from the soil. Much as we complain about the sameness of our lives there is a comfort in sameness that we don't appreciate until its gone. For me to create my work I need sameness. I need the routine of sitting down every day to work. I can't work if I'm upset or too happy!! Things have to feel balanced for me to create and I guess this image portrays that I am feeling a little more rooted and balanced in my life right now and I'm loving the sameness of everyday more than ever since I have seen the other side of that coin in my past. Im excited about what the future holds but not so excited that I cant work lol. I'm holding a workshop in the morning in Dublin and I have plans for the next few months which will keep me busy. Have a lovely weekend everyone and happy shooting ;-)

I was excited to see the scattered clouds as I headed to the lakefront but once I arrived, the only clouds in the sky had shifted to the north. Hence, a little different look from North Point.

I had to revisit my Bushy Park file before I fill it up again with the rut which isn’t far off.

Saar and Sammy are growing up quickly. They make a wonderful pair and they get along very well when they play or lie together. They are sisters, but the differences between them are beginning to show as well, both in appearance and character. Their relationship with Pip is getting better too.

Growing old can make simple things challenging. Many people think aging is a linear process but your body tells a different story. New research: www.cnn.com/2024/08/20/health/dramatic-human-aging-scli-i...

These last few days have been hectic for me, but so, so good. I had my show opening which was a success! Thanks to all of you who came out :-)

And I spent the last two days on a photo excursion with my friend Christine, who you know from Flickr. She flew out here for my show opening and then we went on many adventures, including many lies to get done what we needed to do, so I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm a chronic liar after fibbing to the police officer and the people at the craft store.

And last but not least, today I am running off to do my first television interview! I'm a bit nervous but excited as well!

Oh and just to note, there is no implied "abortion" theme here. My thoughts behind this were to depict a young girl who wants to grow up faster than she is, and so she essentially makes herself menstruate for the first time.
