Australian Hobby (Falco longipennis) juvenile
I did take the camera when we went to do the school shopping.
Only the one Hobby was around as we headed to the uniform store so I took a few shots. It was still sitting there as we came back. Its crop looks full so I think it had recently eaten.
I've been checking on the Hummingbird chicks every day. I can't believe the difference just two days makes! Just prior to a storm rolling in.....

These baby gannets at Cape Kidnapper grow up really fast. I saw some of them almost as big as their moms. They were demanding too!
Sorry about the quality, I didn't have the tripod! He's not so fluffy now and is growing really fast :)
An old and majestic moss-covered Beech tree growing over a mossy stone wall.
Though they share the same place, I'm guessing that the wall was there first - but who knows. I have no idea of the age of the tree, but whatever, it's a beautiful tree ...... and what tales it could tell if only it could talk.
For anyone local who might be interested, it is located along the narrow road from Lowery Cross to Cross Gate (above the Burrator Reservoir).
Technical note: This is a handheld shot at 1/15 second. I got away with it again thanks to Nikon's VR lens system - maybe not tack sharp but sharp enough for the subject.
A Great crested grebe chick being fed by it's parent. The chicks are getting quite big now and have started to practice fishing for themselves.

I first thought this cactus must be struggling, but after checking it out a bit, it appears to be healthy. It must have a good root system, as it grows propped up by the tree.
I always love it when I find an old fence or gate to photograph. It's even better when I find flowers growing in and around it.

LARGER is BETTER
The plant shown is a wild-growing specimen of the ubiquitous European Red Raspberry (Rubus idaeus). When loose in the wild (as here), it is an amazingly successful, hardy, difficult plant that seems to grow anywhere and everywhere. Its shoots grow really fast--a couple of meters in a couple of spring months. The thorns are numerous and sharp. I learned the hard way that you have to wear heavy gloves to deal with the shoots.
Location: Among some old machinery in "indefinite, long-term outdoor storage." Kreiterhof, near the village of Nebenau, District of Lörrach, Baden-Württemberg DE.

A proud mother watches over her growing cygnets. Like all youngsters, some of them are still sound asleep! Taken at Doune Ponds, Perthshire.
A beautiful garden of mixed flowers grows in my front, side, & backyard. My favorite photography is Macro with Bokeh thrown into the mix. Bokeh is when you focus on one item whether background or foreground, zoom in on it and blur the rest of the image. I also like to layer my Photo Images giving them a dimensional look. It seems a little late in the year to be spotting fledglings, but maybe I just don't know that much about nature.
I heard a bunch of chirping in this bush and went to investigate thinking it would a more developed bird and to my surprise I came face to face with a cardinal fledgling.
Nice find, and I managed to get a shot before the Mama cardinal got sick of me.
