My excitement at seeing my first Anole Lizard of the year was the opposite of what this little fellow was probably feeling at seeing his first human of the year.
When I eased outside hoping to get some shots, dozens of them actually, naturally he scurried away, taking a zig-zag path all over my patio until reaching this one beam where he proceeded to escape overhead and out of sight.
But his departing Dewlap Dance told me exactly what he thought of me.

Last year we got lucky and during a short Corona-Break we had some amazing hikes, that offered us the chance to take photos of these amazing green lizards, shimmering in the sunlight.
This one was quite handsome, and was posing for our cameras.
Taken in last summer with a Sony A-6500 (Sony ILCE-6500) and SEL-100400GM as RAW. Converted to JPEG with LR 6.
Zum ersten Mal ist es mir gelungen, ein Pärchen dieser farbenprächtigen Eidechsen zu fotografieren 😀😀
Weil die Kehlen der Männchen zur Paarungszeit türkisfarben leuchten wie ein Smaragd-Edelstein, werden diese, bis zu 40 Zentimeter langen Eidechsen, Smaragdeidechsen genannt.
Sie lieben warme Lebensräume, deren Boden dicht mit Pflanzen bedeckt ist und leben oft an Böschungen und am Rande von Weinbergen.
Smaragdeidechsen sind nur selten zu beobachten, da sie sehr scheu sind und oft sofort fliehen wenn sie nur hören, dass sich Menschen nähern.
Am besten kann man sie in sonnigen Vormittagsstunden beim Sonnenbad beobachten. Manchmal sitzen sie dann in den Weinbergen am Straßenrand auf dem warmen Asphalt oder neben den Wegen gut getarnt im Gras und Gestrüpp.

The Amber Mountain chameleon is endemic to Madagascar and only is known from Montagne d'Ambre in the north of the island, where it occurs between 900 and 1,300 m elevation (Raxworthy and Nussbaum 1994, Raxworthy and Nussbaum 2006). Its extent of occurrence is taken to be 385 khttp://www.iucnredlist.org/apps/redlist/details/172800/0m².
Notice the incredible length of the tail. The tail is so thin at the end that it becomes almost invisible in the photo (click on the photo to magnify).

Well it's not winking actually ... it's just the angle of the shot but I love the effect. Taken in Sinharaja Rainforest (Sri Lanka)
Was doing some yardwork in the front yard today, and when carrying the weeds, limbs, ivy, etc. to the "yard trash bin" in our carport, I spotted something moving out of the corner of my eye.
Had to do a double take before I spotted it - this little Anole lizard, scurrying away from me, hiding behind the gardenia bush, perching on the gutter for a better view of the two-legged giant.
Went for my camera on the outside chance it would still be there - and it was! Not the best shot, but since this is the first lizard we've seen this year, I won't complain. Hopefully, there will be more sightings over the next few weeks and months!
Yesterday, I went to do some yardwork but had to put it on hold upon discovering a small brown anole lizard hiding inside this ornamental garden stake.
TODAY, I attempted again to go clean up that area when, lo & behold, there was another lizard - the one shown here - hiding in the same garden stake!!! The one from yesterday was a little brown anole, and as you can see this fellow is green.
This particular corner of our garden may not get cleaned up any time soon. Just saying.

Le lézard vert, Lacerta bilineata est très clairement le plus grand lézard de Suisse, sa taille pouvant dépasser les 30 cm.
Je le savais vert sur le dessus, avec des joues bleues pendant la saison des amours pour les mâles. Par contre, je découvre son ventre jaune, très jaune !
