A small lizard, basking in the sunshine, on top of a fallen tree trunk. Photographed on the island of Penang, in Malaysia.

Smile on Saturday#Nose

Bagheera (my dog) is jealous, she thinks her nose is prettier. And another thinker, my husband thinks this would be ideal if the name of this group was ‘Make me Scared’.

The young green lizard male was sunbathing on my fence.

I was about to photograph this heath fritillary butterfly puddling on a path in Hungary, when this green lizard suddenly emerged from the undergrowth and caught it!

Do love these beauties! This one was poised ready to dart off as I slowly approached! I took my photo then backed off again so as not to frighten him.

A few weeks back, I uploaded a video of the two in courtship mode. Also took a few photos! Lots of vegetation so a bit busy, but thought I'd upload anyway as they're such beautiful lizards!

I posted this a few days ago and a Flickr' friend thought it would look good with a close crop so that is what I've done. Thank you Randy E. Crisp

The green anole is a common lizard throughout Georgia and South Carolina, but is absent from some areas in the mountains. Anoles are generally arboreal (living in trees) but can be found almost anywhere. Anoles are commonly found in suburban or even urban areas and can often be seen perched on fences and rooftops.

Have a nice day

Thanks for your visits and comments.

Last year we got lucky and during a short Corona-Break we had some amazing hikes, that offered us the chance to take photos of these amazing green lizards, shimmering in the sunlight.

Taken in last summer with a Sony A-6500 (Sony ILCE-6500) and SEL-100400GM as RAW. Converted to JPEG with LR 6.
