Carew Castle (Welsh: Castell Caeriw) is a castle in the civil parish of Carew in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The Carew family take their name from this site and have owned the castle for more than 900 years.

The use of the site for military purposes extends back at least 2000 years. The site must have been recognised as strategically useful from the earliest times, and recent excavations in the outer ward have discovered multiple defensive walls of an Iron Age fort.

A zebra at the Odense zoo.

Habitat: Africa

The zebra looks like a horse and belongs to the same genus, but the white stripes on the black body make it very special.

Each zebra has its own pattern, so foals can recognize the mother - and vice versa. The stripes also make it difficult for predators to pick out a single animal in the herd.

The species in the picture is Grévy's zebra, which is the largest zebra species. It can be recognized by the narrow stripes and large ears. It is the most endangered species, and today there are only 3000 of them left in the wild.

This pastoral scene may soon be a new subdivision.

The animal that has been appearing in my various social feeds the most over the past year. From various social media posts, to odd animal fact lists, the giraffe has ever been a constant companion. With that in mind, I decided during my trip to the Knoxville Zoo I should head out and see if I could get a decent photo of the amazing animal. I wasn’t disappointed, the animals were out grazing peacefully next to the zebras and elephants, and just as impressive sight as I remember. Despite my urge to capture the whole animal, in the end I opted for a more classic headshot.

Built in 1928, this idyllic hut belongs to the Alt-Herren-Verband of the Akademischer Turnverein Graz. From 1933 to 1934 it was managed by the famous alpinist and Dalai Lama friend Heinrich Harrer, one of the Austrians I admire with great respect.

Dubbed “the fifth quarter of the world” in recognition of its uniqueness, Romney Marsh is truly a land apart. Sheep graze green fields separated by a maze of ditches, the horizon punctuated by church towers. Famed for its emptiness, its sweeping skies and sense of solitude it is truly a unique and special place the Marsh is a peaceful place mostly devoted to farming, its quiet and flat lanes offering excellent walking and cycling - its churches provide a step back into history - its landscape supporting a variety of special wildlife..
