At Langford Lakes (I thought this might make some people smile 😊). The goose is actually in the distance behind the cattle!

Winter sun melts across the landscape as the horses graze quietly in the soft morning light. Covered in a frosty blanket of snow, a visit to Frisland should suffice to warm even the coldest heart to dreams of a White Christmas.

I took a brief walk to the Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands this morning. This one was grazing in the dry land area.

As mentioned yesterday, I'm posting a close up of this pretty gal. She was so kind to create some excitement for our group. We had yet to see a moose and she came at just the right time and place with Denali in the background. This is a day I'll never forget.

There is a pond just across the road of Wonder Lake where this was shot. It was quite the wildlife evening. We saw what must have been a 50 lbs beaver cross the road 10 or 15 feet from us as well as a family of ducks. Some of which you see in the foreground of this picture.

I timed my shot here and held down my shutter as she pulled her head from the water hoping to get the water coming from her mouth. She made her way down the lake grazing on her evening snack. She seemed very comfortable with us standing and staring at her.

To see the light on her face you would never think it's after 10 PM when I shot this. The beauty of those long Alaskan days.

Bison grazing during the early morning.

Just down the road from our cabin was this field of grazing horses. Each time we walked by they would come over to the fence looking for a handout. Eventually they learned we didn't have any food and walked away except this guy. He was kind enough to pose for a picture.

The background is the mountains of Glacier national park. If you look close, you can see birds on the backs of some of the horses which were feeding on all the bugs.

Sunrise at Colmers Hill with a sheep and 2 lambs grazing.

This image taken around 20 minutes into sunrise evident with the sun not too far above the horizon. Getting out the zoom lens to close in revealing an almost a painted style background crated by the mist turning orange from the sun which at this moment was quite bright and needing to alter the exposure compensation dial so as not to blow the highlights and a little wind as the union jack was waving.

This does look quite good in black and white as well and will share on a future upload.

No filters used here straight shooting into the direction of the sun...

The Columbia Black-Tailed Deer is one of three subspecies of the Mule Deer. The other two are the Sitka Black-Tailed Deer, and the Rocky Mountain Mule Deer. The Columbia Black-tailed Deer is found throughout Vancouver Island and the western slopes of the coastal mountain range from the United States border to rivers Inlet. Their range does not extend too far inland before the Rocky Mountain Mule Deer takes over.

The Columbia Black-Tailed Deer is the mid size of the three subspecies. The Sitka Black-Tailed Deer is the smallest and the Rocky Mountain Mule Deer are the largest of the subspecies.
