An old Creative Sound Blaster Live card

At the low end of the cost spectrum, I liked the idea of passive cooling (as opposed to fans). The HAF-X case has plenty of fans already, supposedly not too loud since they're large and spin at relatively low RPM. Could I say that for fans on a graphics card? Less likely. But would I notice the noise of such a fan, buried inside the case and all the larger fans? Not clear, but why risk it? And the bonus for the passively cooled approach was this windblown aluminum extrusion, waving like amber waves of grain. I can't help wondering how much the extrusion die cost. Does Asus amortize this design over other products? The only thing that might be cooler would be a three-dimensional design (rather than a solid generated by translating a two-dimensional cross section), possibly fabricated using 3D printing.
