For this project, we were to choose 2 topics to do an ad, a poster, and a brochure for. We were to choose two topics: one related to the design industry, and one for a non-profit organization that was in some way related to our interests.
For the design related series, I chose to create a hypothetical lecture in which I wanted to raise awareness of the many uses of Helvetica and pay tribute to it’s many functions in our society. I hope to connect designers, both old a new as they can all appreciate it’s past, present, and future. The lecture, as well as the advertisement, would exhibit the flexibility, functionality, and many faces Helvetica has to offer.
I wanted the poster and ad series to play with the idea of how Helvetica is so common, that it blends in with society and can become invisible. The inserted portion of the half-sized ad (the charcoal sheet with the transparent and iconic "H") is meant to refer back to the poster, unifying the identity of the lecture. It is meant to intrigue and interact with the environment as well as the viewer.
Hypothetically, this is a proposal board of the advertisement and in context. The advertisement would be placed in a Print magazine as the audience is for graphic designers and those with an appreciation of typography.

****It's an illusion
There's too much confusion
It's an illusion
There's too much confusion
Down, down, down in your heart
Find, find, find the secret
Turn, turn, turn your head around
Baby we can do it
We can do it alright
Do you believe in love at first sight?
It´s an illusion, I don´t care
Do you believe I can make you feel better
Too much confusion, come on over here
can we get together?
I really, I really wanna be with you
come on, check it out with me
I hope you, I hope you feel the same way too
I search, I search, I search my whole life
to find, to find, find the secret
and all I did was open up my eyes
baby we can do it
we can do it alright
do you believe that we can change the future?
do you believe I can make you feel better?
can we get together?
I really, I really wanna be with you
come on, check it out with me
I hope you, I hope you feel the same way too
It's all illusion
There´s too much confusion
I´ll make you feel better
If it´s bitter at the start
then it´s sweeter in the end
Do you believe in love at first sight?
It´s an illusion, I don´t care
Do you believe I can make you feel better
Too much confusion, come on over here
can we get together?
I really, I really wanna be with you
come on check it out with me
I hope you, I hope you feel the same way too
It´s all illusion
There's too much confusion
I´ll make you feel better
If it´s bitter at the start
Then it´s sweeter in the end****

Between January 14th 2008 and March 30th 2008 under the moniker of Smile Maker I created between 10-15 of these "Fuck The World" protest posters that I posted to an online account. It's amazing the powers of the internet and how these messages were distributed, knocked off and "ripped off." Beware the bootleggers.
