The fruits of our land

Grape hyacinth (Muscari armeniacum) is a mid-spring blooming, perennial bulb in the Lily Family (Liliaceae) native to southeastern Europe.

Happy Monday!

... disgusting for Tofu but delicious for the human. I have chosen grapes for the Happy Caturday theme "Location" as we live in a wine region although I have to admit that these aren't really regional grapes as it is simply not their season at the moment. :)

Grape hyacinth (Muscari)

Grape Hyacinth. Morgan County, Alabama - March 17, 2022. I renewed a membership in a nature subscription and received a "free" gift of miscellaneous bulbs. When I saw the tiny purple flower I thought it was an emerging crocus. Upon closer examination I realized it was one of the "gifts." This is a new one for me. Grape Hyacinth, not Hyacinth. It is in a container. Any suggestions on care after the bloom is gone would be appreciated.

Many thanks to everybody for your kind attention!!!!

This sort of grape is called 'Isabella' and it normally grows up in 2000 km to the south from my 60th parallel. But I risked to plant it near my summer house. Here the grape isn't ready because of this cold summer (it has to be black at last) but I loved its color anyway. HSS:)

Love to go pick grapes in the fall. These are gonna make good jam.

Beautiful blue muscari grape Hyacinth bulb in flower in March.

These are bright blue flowers a cross between a bunch of grapes and mini Hyacinths.

The grapes are starting to appear on our vine. They make lovely table grapes, but at the moment we have an agreement with the birds that they can enjoy the grapes while we get the plums. It seems to work well.

California Vineyard

Peering close within the vine, I saw this multicolored grape cluster bathed in the final rays of the sun before it set behind the nearby mountains. This is located in the Santa Lucia Highlands west of Gonzales in the Salinas Valley of California.

I was in the vineyards again on Saturday morning and took some more photos of the lovely grapes. They are mostly ripe now but I suppose that the winegrowers will let them enjoy the current sunny weather for another week or two before the grape harvest will start.
