In September a party of German graphic designers and artists, members of the B.D.G. or Bundes Deutscher Gebrauchsgraphiker E.V. made a trip to London to meet with fellow professionals and to see the sights. The text tells of the journey on the White Star line "Arabic" from Hamburg, during which the group appear to have coverted the White Star Line's luggage labels, to Southampton and on to London. Over the next few days the group not only see the sights of London, for example, visiting the Empire Exhibition at Wembley and admiring Herrick's work, the group also meet a number of designers and visits shops and studios such as those of R.P. Gossop, Heal's, Crawford's advertising agency, the Carlton Studios and the V & A Museum to see the poster collections.

Even travel on the Underground, for example to Russell Square station, and where much is made of the advertising and the lifts.

The group are entertained at a dinner in the Hotel Cecil. This is organised by the Editor of the then equally new magazine "Commercial Art", Gebrauschgraphik having been founded in 1924 following on from "Das Plakat", at which numerous luminaries of the British poster and graphic design industry are present. Speeches are made and these involve various guests including the Chairman of the Leicester based handicrafts company Dryad, Mr. H H Peach, and Prof. Frenzel from Berlin.

The article includes two group photographs; one of the German party on their voyage and another of some of the dinner guests at the Hotel Cecil in London. It's great to be able to 'see' some of the names of the many artists whose work we now know. Amongst the British group are; Robert Braun, editor of Commercial Art magazine, H.H. Peach of Dryad, Josef (Joseph) Thorp, M. Gossop, Hamilton Smith of Heal's, Tom Purois (Purvis), Septimus Scott and Austin Cooper.
