32 years ago my parents went to Ocean City Maryland with good friends of theirs to enjoy some vacation. The fathers went to a store to get drinks and came back with this bottle of vodka. (the background on it all is hazy depending on who you ask)
They forgot to open it, and decided to save it for the first kid to graduate high school.
They forgot to open it again.
Next mile stone- the last kid to graduate high school.
They forgot to open it again.
Next mile stone- the first kid to graduate college.
They forgot to open it again.
Next mile stone- the last kid to graduate college.
They forgot to open it again.
Next mile stone- the first kid to get married.
They forgot to open it again.
Next mile stone- the first grandchild.
They forgot to open it again.
Each time the mile stone came around, they would tell the story. All the while, all the children were doubting the existence of the bottle because we had never seen it.
Finally, at the last child's wedding, mine, they brought it out and opened it.
I can tell you this, cough syrup tastes better than 32 year old cherry flavored vodka.
