Have you heard this parable?
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups -porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate. When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, theprofessor said:
"Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.
Now consider this: Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us. God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups. The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
And enjoy your hot chocolate!

Allium at Whole Foods. Just looking.
I try to think about the Mexican workers who grew and harvested the fancy vegetables. . . . .
Here's more about this particular farm in California.
I had to use the graduated filter for this shot as the sun was just starting to catch us up. It did leave a nice contrast though with the warm colours peaking through onto the cold blues of this beast of a waterfall.
I think I need to start taking pictures of other settings other than waterfalls!
Have a good week and thanks for looking.
Well I still have to wait to get the papers done and the ceremony won't be until October (that's why there are not pictures of me in robes), but I have completed all the courses and projects with great grades, so I'm officialy a Physicist! =D
Unfortunately I still have things to do, as I have to prepare for the master Astrophysics courses. But the amount of free time has increased notoriously so I'll be able to resume my usual posting scheme! Yay! <3

It's official. The last exam has been written and she has graduated with distinction from high school. I am so proud of my girl. She's worked hard and is getting ready to take on the world. But first, we celebrate
We enjoyed the ceremony at our town hall on Saturday. Here I've combined a shot of her in a cafe after the ceremony with a Sunset from our bedroom window. Somehow hoping she will have a blazing future as she goes out to work in the world.
I like to see light from the same direction in a montage. Adds a little authenticity ?
Thanks for visiting and especially for comments.
Santo Domingo and the Virgin of the Rosary, colonial painting by an unidentified artist. Church of San Jacinto de Polonia, San Angel, Mexico City.
This Castilian born in 1170 founded the Order of Preachers, known as Dominicans. Catholic tradition states that the Blessed Virgin gave the rosary to Domingo de Guzman and instructed him to spread it.
“The primary vocation of the order established by Saint Dominic was to preach the gospel to the inhabitants of the incipient cities, who either showed a serious evangelical ignorance or interpreted the scriptures altering the Catholic dogmas and favoring the different heresies that were present in medieval Europe. ......The Dominicans disembarked in the port of San Juan de Ulua on June 23, 1526. At first there were twelve of them, but some died and others fell ill during the voyage, so that only three friars arrived in Mexico City. They were Domingo de Betanzos, Gonzalo Lucero and Vicente de las Casas. The first studied arts and civil law at the University of Salamanca, which graduated him as a bachelor and licentiate, and later took the Dominican habit in San Esteban de Salamanca. Lucero was a deacon and Las Casas, novice......"
Dominicans founded convents in the Valley of Mexico (one of them in Tenanitla, an indigenous town later called San Angel) as well as in Puebla, Morelos. Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Guatemala. The convent of San Jacinto was one of them.
