Last year was a year of much pain. This year I am going to fill my world with flowers.
This is one of the card I remade for "tacky" card month. To see the before look here www.flickr.com/groups/lovehandmadecards/discuss/721576449.... I added a flower from a Silhouette cut file "3d flower" id #27361. The sentiment is Hero Arts "Antique Graditude Bonquets" CL780. The sequin flowers were removed.
Thanks Guys for your sacrifice. June 6, 1944. "Farthest from your mind is the thought of falling back, in fact, it isn't there at all. And so you dig your hole carefully and deep, and wait." - 'Currahee' Scrapbook of the 506th PIR
Friday 16th
Lincoln with mum, early. I try and find myself a few new clothes but nothing is inspiring, so I run errands instead, only buying what I need (which makes a change). We go for breakfast in Café Nero and John is stood at the counter, smug for having guessed we’d be the next of his regulars to arrive. We ask him who’ll arrive next, and his guess “the old biddy with the cappuccino and a cheese twist” is spot on. Home, and I spend a fast-moving afternoon running, showering and packing last minute. At the station I realise my two-day-old bank card isn’t the right one to get the ticket out of the machine on the third try, and after a sobbing conversation with an attendant and a hurried phone call which is less than unhelpful, a guard grabs my cases and tells me “we’ll get you on that train”. He tells me I’ll need a new ticket and as the second guard is rebooting the payment machine he asks me about my predicament, and when he realises I’ve paid once he doesn’t want to charge me. I’ll need proof for my connection though, and at Newark a third guard refuses to let me out to the ticket desk without a ticket (the irony wasn’t too funny when I was in such a rush). Guard no.2 arrives behind me and tells guard no.3 my story, and he lets me through. The woman at the ticket desk is unrelentingly unhelpful until she sees tears in my eyes (I literally cannot afford a new ticket after buying the first), and eventually she chooses to print off my tickets – which she had on the system – in thirty seconds flat. I feel a mixture of graditude and disbelief over how people can act, but I can finally calm down on the connecting train.
A long journey, then Thomas meets me at the station. Happy reunited, we trek across the city with my miraculously heavy bag. That evening we meet his friends in Frankenstein’s, for cocktails and laughter.

When I was little my grandpa would tell me that the early morning fog rolling away from the valleys was smoke coming from the groundhogs cooking breakfast. LOL I never fail to think of that each time I awake to a scene like this. I'm thankful for happy childhood memories ... especially the ones with my grandpa.
Grateful just to put my feet up today and still be in my jammies. After conferences are over, Thanksgiving begins right away. The Monday after Thanksgiving is the first day of hunting season in Pennsylvania , and we traditionally get the day off . . . which means watching the telly all day in my slippers and jammies.
