Autumn's Whisper

The leaves drift down, a golden dance,

In autumn’s cool and quiet trance.

Their colors flame, then softly fall,

A gentle blanket, nature’s shawl.

The air is crisp, a fragrant sigh,

Beneath the pale October sky.

It carries whispers, fresh and sweet,

With hints of apples at my feet.

Ripe and red, they beg to bite,

In orchards bathed in amber light.

Each crunch, a song, each scent, a prayer,

To autumn’s magic in the air.

And oh, the pumpkins, round and bright,

Their orange glow, a cozy sight.

In every pie and every brew,

They bring the warmth that autumn grew.

So here I stand, in fall’s embrace,

With every sound and every taste.

A season’s kiss, both wild and clear,

I breathe it in—my favorite time of year.

Quick sketches always fascinate me. Starting from nothing on a clean sheet of sketch paper, I can literally see the gradual formation of the vivid portrait with every stroke of the pencil by this street artist, all in a few minutes' time. He strikes me as a really cool artist and the lovely girl sits still and very patiently, smiling and confident of the artist's skills.

The Big Question: What should I focus on with my camera: the artist, the girl or the portrait? Now you know what I decided on focusing:-)

Located In Downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, the Medical Arts Building (1929-30) displays one of the most ornate terra cotta façades remaining in this city from this period. The ten-story Gothic style office building towers over the lower commercial & governmental buildings which surround it. Five locally prominent physicians, including the president of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, Dr. Parley Herbert Acuff, engaged the architectural firm of Manley and Young of Lexington, Kentucky and Knoxville to design the Medical Arts Building and matching garage in 1929. The structure was completed in 1930 at a cost of $750,000 and was touted to be the most outstanding and completely equipped medical building in the South at that time. The five physicians subsequently went bankrupt and the structure was taken over by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Mr. A.F. Pilzer of Montgomery, Alabama purchased the building in the late 1930's. In 1977, the structure was sold to David Brown of the real estate firm of Brown, Brown and West for $750,000. Kristopher Kendrick purchased the building in 1981 and sold it to the present owners in 1983 who planned to rehabilitate the structure for continuing use as office space. The first floor commercial space of the building was occupied at various times by a bank, a restaurant, and a drug store. The principal tenants of the office space were doctors, dentists, and other medically related businesses.

The Medical Arts Building is one of only two remaining terra cotta façaded buildings of the late 1920's period remaining in Knoxville, and is the larger & more elaborate of the two. For its architecture, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 24, 1984. All the information above was found on the original documents submitted for listing consideration and can be viewed here: npgallery.nps.gov/NRHP/AssetDetail/64577b6a-fce4-4def-82f...

Completed in 1258, Salisbury Cathedral replaced the earlier eleventh century building at Old Sarum. Salisbury built in the early English Gothic style has the highest church spire in the country at 123 metres.

Beneath cathedral bells and winter light,

she stands where snow learns how to glow.

Midnight lips, frost-kissed skin,

secrets written where only silence knows.

Lanterns bow, the stars lean close,

inked truths breathe in the cold,

a holy hush, a darkened grace,

where Christmas keeps her bold.

La Sainte-Chapelle is the only surviving building of the Capetian royal palace on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris, France. It was commissioned by King Louis IX of France to house his collection of Passion Relics, including the Crown of Thorns - one of the most important relics in medieval Christendom. Begun some time after 1239 and consecrated on the 26th of April 1248, the Sainte-Chapelle is considered among the highest achievements of the Rayonnant period of Gothic architecture.

Another viewpoint for Victoria; this shows the entire steeple with belfry and a bit of the addition off to the right. It also pulls together the various building details; shown all together it's a magnificent building. The dark, overcast sky looms overhead in an oppressive manner and gives it a gritty cast.

The Kefermarkt altarpiece (German: Kefermarkter Flügelaltar) is a richly decorated wooden altarpiece in the Late Gothic style in the parish church of Kefermarkt in Upper Austria. Commissioned by the knight Christoph von Zelking, it was completed around 1497. Saints Peter, Wolfgang and Christopher are depicted in the central section.

Saint Christopher, lastly, is depicted as a young man carrying Christ on his shoulders. The statue measures 190 centimetres (75 in).[19] He is bare-headed and barefoot. He supports himself with a rough branch as he carries Christ across a river, and the wind ruffles his clothing.[19]

The identity of its maker, known by the Notname Master of the Kefermarkt Altarpiece, is unknown, but at least two skilled sculptors appear to have created the main statuary. Throughout the centuries, it has been altered and lost its original paint and gilding; a major restoration was undertaken in the 19th century under the direction of Adalbert Stifter. The altarpiece has been described as "one of the greatest achievements in late-medieval sculpture in the German-speaking area".

Lament of the Scorned Succubus

In shadows deep, where nightmares creep,

A succubus danced in dreams,

Her kiss once sweet, now bitter deceit,

As love unraveled at the seams.

Her wings once soft, now twisted dark,

Claws ready to strike with spite,

For trust betrayed ignites her rage,

A heart once pure turned to night.

She haunts the dreams, a ghost of pain,

Her gaze now sharp, her smile a snare,

In vengeance’ grip, she stalks her prey,

The succubus scorned, with no love to spare.

Beware her name, the burning flame,

For in her sorrow, shadows thrive,

With hunger fierce, she’ll take your life,

A predator where nightmares arrive.
