Mossley Hill, Liverpool, England
Look - no cars. Unusual in that car parking is not permitted.
Gordon Place is a short, narrow cul-de-sac with a terrace of early Victorian cottages on both sides. In scale and character it is more typical of the old streets of the City centre and inner districts like Everton in the north end of the City than in outskirts like Mossley Hill. From about the 1840s Liverpool’s rapidly expanding population gave rise to waves of high density housing like this. Tiny terraces were erected in any spare space available to meet the massive growing demand for accommodation. Many were even built within the back gardens of large mansion houses. The vast majoority of Liverpool's narrow cobbled streets and passages have long since disappeared but Gordon Place survives to remind us of them. This street has no pavements and its surface is unusual in that it is finished with a dense brick paver with a diagonal surface pattern and a stone sill at the end. There is no car parking in Gordon Place.
Stanley Terrace, the next street along, is another early Victorian survivor. It is even narrower than Stanley Terrace and its surface is plainer.

Gordon House is a residential house designed by influential architect Frank Lloyd Wright as part of his Usonian vision for America. It is the second and last of the series designed for working-class U.S. consumers, which—in 1939—was considered $5,000–6,000 per year It is based on a design for a modern home commissioned by Life Magazine in 1938 at a time when Wright had little work.
The house was designed in 1957 for Evelyn and Conrad Gordon and finished in 1963 (four years after Frank Lloyd Wright's death) originally located adjacent to the Willamette River near Wilsonville, Oregon, United States. When its 2001 owners intended to destroy it, the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservancy obtained a three-month reprieve to dismantle and move it to the Oregon Garden about 21 miles southeast of its original location.

"CN left me a New Years present in the form of IC6264 set out at Gordon New Years Eve for some reason. It has become an orphan evidently as it was still sitting there early this afternoon, idling away."
