The dam is 140m (460 ft) high, flow from the spillway helps to generate power for Tasmania.

I am not generally afraid of heights, but felt quite dizzy looking over the immense drop in the double curvature wall.

A little over a year after the Reading & Northern acquired the former Reading main line west of Reading, the “mountain job” rolls into Gordon, Pennsylvania after serving its westernmost customers at Mount Carmel Junction. The five empties include a covered hopper from a small explosives manufacturing plant, and four boxcars that delivered newsprint to International Paper.

I've visited Bennachie for many years but this is the first time on this trail.

I'm still mighty pissed off that someone stole Gordon the First. If anyone knows where he is, I'll happily pay the ransom. This is Gordon II watching over five hinds in Fiona's garden

It was built during World War II to the War Department "Austerity" 2-10-0 design by the North British Locomotive Co. at its Hyde Park Works in Glasgow in 1943, and was the last steam locomotive owned by the British Army.

Wilderness as far as you can see, and yet there are species here that rely on the survival an individual insect species for pollination. the relationship between temperature, flowering and pollination makes survival precarious. some of the trees are are over 2000 years old. what will this look like in 2000 years? Will anyone even notice?

Previously unpublished archive shot from December 2016. I probably held this shot back originally for the motion blur in the woman crossing the road but with hindsight it actually adds to the shot. Enjoy!

"Gordon Bennett" is an informal idiomatic phrase in English used to express surprise or incredulity.

The etymology is somewhat cloudy as there are several nations claiming to have been home to the original Gordon Bennett.

I thought he looked good up there, welcoming allcomers to the village of Acharacle, deep in Ardnamurchan wild country. But tonight I see he's gone, and I've no idea where. But Scotland's big absentee landlords are a NIMBYish lot who want their playgrounds without any thought for community sentiment. Gordon, in a very short time, proved to be popular with children and families in our area and the thought that he has been kidnapped is distressing.

Ex-Sonic Youth icon makes phenomenal ‘debut’ with ‘No Home Record’

After an approximately 40 year long career in music – including 30 years with the inimitable Sonic Youth – Kim Gordon actually debuts with her impressive solo album ‘No Home Record’. Gordon wholeheartedly flirts with both raw rock songs, electro, & sluggish hip-hop beats as well as with grinding noise.

Lake Gordon from Twelvetrees Range in South West Tasmania.

In the left middle ground is the Gordon River Road and the infrastructure scars of the former township of Strathgordon. Upon completion of the Gordon River dam, and hydro-electric scheme, residential and workshop buildings were dismantled and removed.

Unfortunately the scars will remain for a very long time to come due to the landscape being so desperately poor, a result of the geology being unyielding pre-Cambrian quartzite.

The tangle of ranges to the north of the lake are most likely the Prince of Wales, Princess and Hamilton Ranges.

Rain, clouds, and chilly temperatures greet traffic traversing the CN Superior Subdivision today. I liked this pair of rebuilt Dash 9 locomotives, so I rushed down after a photo in Solon Springs to the bog on the north side of Gordon. The Superior Subdivision mainline makes a southeast-oriented route through Wisconsin and diverges from US 53 making chasing nearly impossible south of Gordon.
