Will try to take multiple shots of this view at different times and with different gear to try to improve it but this is the starting point.

It was simplicity that was the goal of this shot. A rock, a cloud, and the ocean. "Less is more", they say when it comes to life. Until it was discovered that a very wealthy individual coined the phrase, attempting to convince the less fortunate to accept their lot in life.

However, this simple phrase is true in photography. eliminating clutter does remove distractions. This is what the phrase is meant to illustrate. These are the simple goals that any photographer desires.

My goal with this series is to explore every day scenes under the cover of darkness. A street corner, a lamp post, a doorway. Big city, small town, urban, rural. Man-made light versus nature’s darkness–––light and shadow interpreting minimalist settings in black and white. To see more in this series, check out Cover Of Darkness

Early on in the COVER OF NIGHT series, I shot a couple gas stations. They were not initially the type scene I was looking to capture, but when I came across one late at night, bright and isolated in the darkness, it was impossible for me to resist, so I continue to shoot them. I have now shot enough that they have become a series-within-the-series. For a look at them as a collection, check out, Gas Stations

I haven't got any grand travel plans for 2025. But that's OK as looking closer to home offers many possibilities. I would like to shoot more Jurassic Coast, Dartmoor and Cornwall.

And Somerset - I will be keeping a close eye on the redevelopment of this pier. I can't believe I have not shot Glastonbury Tor and then there is those skeleton trees near Exmoor.

So lots to think about and hopefully this Twixmas gloomy weather will pass. Please join me if anyone finds themselves down my way.

On another note will this Gavin and Stacey hype ever end? Only mentioning it as this is dead opposite Barry Island.

I'm no believer in any silly religious crap, so don't take this the wrong way. But this morning when I arose, I was pleased as can be to see that we had had a bit of rain last night. As you know, California has been in drought much too much. Not only that, but the valley in which I live has suffered from wildfires even though they have occurred hundreds of miles from us. The smoke has been miserable, and for that reason I've not gone on a morning walk for awhile, as I feared the inhalation of particulate matter might be doing more damage than the forsaking of exercise. Thus it was a beautiful opportunity to be out and about. So, that's my Thanksgiving story. Merry Thanksgiving to all of you who do that thing.

So here we are... achievement unlocked: 7000 followers. Thank you all, truly, I'm overwhelmed with the love <3.

Some of us have personal goals that we set for ourselves, long ago, I had descided that this was it, and now that I'm here... I'm not really sure what to do with myself.

A few things are coming to mind: Continue blogging for a few of my long-term sponsors and events, possibly get back into creating some new BOM stuff, or straight out retire.

Maybe it's a ten year itch, a Mid-(second)Life-Crisis... who knows, it will likely pass... just know that I have no more expectations of myself or anyone else, it's super empowering.
