As soon as you enter the premises of a Church in old Goa, these candle men will approach you . I cought a group of ladies buying candles.
Across the road from Ourem Creek the winter sun slants on brightly painted pillars holding up a projecting balcony that looks out on an old road in an old quarter in Panjim.
I walk this way sometimes for the sun, for old whispers from the time I would ride the bus this way, every day.
Goa lies on India's west coast.

I was in Goa when I saw Skarma crossing the street and asked for her photo. She was happy to oblige and was very sweet. I learned she had traveled from Ladakh, a remote region in Kashmir near the border with Tibet, to Goa to visit her husband, Tashi, who sells Tibetan jewelery at a bazaar in Calangute. I photographed her in front of her husband’s jewelry stall.
Goa was established as a Franciscans mission in 1777. The church was probably built in the 19th century.
