Senate House - Madras University
It is one of the finest monuments in Chennai and a living example which shows the remarkable architectural skills of the famous architect of 19th century, Robert Fellowes Chisholm. The wonder of Chennai, the Senate house, located on the Madras University Campus, near Marina is a landmark in Chennai. The structure is a live example of the Indo-Saracenic style with a harmonious blend of Byzantine architectural features.
The Senate built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, incorporates many elements of the Byzantine style.[8] The great hall of the Senate House is of immense height and proportions and considered to be the finest of its kind in India.
The Senate house has a central hall with corridors on the ground floor. The corridors stand on six massive pillars standing on either side. Also the four sky touching towers standing at each of the corners of the building gives it a dazzling look. The six porches, two on the eastern and western sides of the building and one each on the northern and southern side of the building further lend the structure a vintage look. There also are three segmental arch openings in each porch in the east, west and south of the porch. The roof is made of brick shell with lime mortar.

I've been worried about losing the light recently. Even after returning from London, I still felt something was missing up until I relooked into the images & came across one like this.
Then it reminded me that it does not matter how many times you've been to a place, or how lost you feel when it comes to photography - it is always in you & when you let it, it shines through without you needing to find it :)
And gems like this is why I love going back to cities which are never the same.

Geschiedenis van de kapel, weergegeven op de gebrandschilderde ramen in de zijgevels.
In 1578, tijdens de tachtigjarige oorlog werd de kapel door de geuzen vernield. Men bleef Maria evenwel vereren. Het raam toont ook het turfkanaal, de "Gentesevaart", waaraan de kapel is gelegen.
The history of the chapel as is represented in the painted glasswindows in the sidewalls of the nowadays chapel.
In the year 1578, during the eighty years war (one of the religionwars), the chapel was destroijed by the beggars. Nevertheless the virgin Mary still was worshipped on this place. The window also shows the old peatchannel, along which the channel was build; the "Gentsevaart"
Eilean Donan Castle and visitor entry outside the castle. This is the entrance to the castle, with a winding path and a lot of greenery outside the castle. The Eilean Donan castle is located on the Eilean Donan island, located in the western Highlands of Scotland at a distance of around 1 km from the nearby village of Dornie. The Castle is located on the Loch Duich. The island was named after Donnan of Eigg, a martyred Celtic saint, which was martyred in 617. He was supposed to have built a church here, but there are no remains of this church. The castle was built approximately in the 13th century, and was finally destroyed in the early 18th century after the clan in the castle were involved in the Jacobite uprising. The castle belongs to the Clan Macrae. It is also famous as the castle that is one of the most famous castles of Scotland, being highly photographed. The current structure of the castle is after reconstruction in the twentieth century, this reconstruction being done by Lt. Col. John MacRae-Gilstrap, and to make the whole place more tourist friendly, a bridge was constructed to give easier access to the castle. Now the castle is the 3rd most visited castle in Scotland.
