I couldn't find the top third to my tree, so I present to you an Xmas shrubbery! Yeah, it's a little embarrassing, and I feel like Charlie Brown having to apologize for my tree, but it's better than nothing.
Now to get to wrapping.
I've had the pleasure over the last few weeks to meet tEdGuy49, trackstar, patriot, energy pioneer and his partner 'Rusty.' They have this 'crazy Idea' we can heat and cool our homes at low cost for the next thousand years using sustanable geothermic energy, thus taking carbon based fuels totally out of the equation.
This is what pioneers look like people.. and yeah they're catching a few arrows out in the wilderness.

My gut feeling here is that Carolynn (subject from my stranger #5 portrait) did a somewhat massive neighborhood cleanup, though I couldn't find her to get the official story. Of the 15 shopping carts, Home Depot, Target, WalMart, Office Max and Food City are among those represented.
While I was out shooting this, a Department of Public Works employee drove by. We chatted and he was following up on a call about a homeless camp nearby.

Last year I came across the best book idea I never had: The Field Guide to Shopping Carts. I always think of that when I encounter carts in the wild now.
When all else fails, write on the hand.

BEFORE GTD: One of my bookcases - seriously overfilled. This is what is called doublestacked! I primarily have systematic theology topics on this bookcase
task.fm is the planet's coolest task reminder application. Task.fm uses semantic technology to translate human speak into a very handy email, SMS and phone reminders. This is the simplest way to capture your most important tasks.
After going through the huge mess and trashing much of it, I was left with two main types of stuff: reference, and projects.
The reference went into files in a file cabinet, to be gone over again for Next Actions, Project Information, and Someday Projects.
The Projects themselves went onto a list, and I put each project in its own little pile.
For the blog post, "Emptying my head to reboot my Project List at Juggling Frogs as a symbol of an overwhelming Project List.
This is right before I totally emptied it out and took care of every item properly. There were items in it as far back as March 2006 but the majority were from the summer. This is because it was so full in the summer that I had to take it off my desk to make space. Since then I've not had an in-basket.
I made a good plan of solid next actions and for the past couple of weeks (with a break for getting the flu) I've been knocking off items. Today was a big day - I cleared out my email in-box and then tackled the paper in-basket.
It was really a lot easier than I thought it would be. I think there were a few contributing factors:
* I've learned since I started last year
* A lot of it looked important but it wasn't
* Some was junk
* Some was dated
Overview of the six pocket Moleskines I just bought. From left to right: diary 2007 (day per page), sketchbook, info book, squared notebook, plain notebook and ruled notebook.
BEFORE GTD: another shot of my desk. It is a great desk. It takes literally 4 men to carry so I usually take it apart to move it. I hope to refinish the top in the future.
These are mainly empty, but I would like to use them to sort office materials.
And as a printer stand, obviously.
