RELEASES: 2005 Pretty 'N' Punk; 2023 Pretty 'N' Punk
IMPORTANT NOTES: The 2023 re-release of this doll appears to be sold with nearly identical clothes/accessories, but was not packaged with a dog. The following clothing items were repackaged with other dolls:
-Pink jacket: 2006 Design Your Own Bratz Rina
-Pink jacket, skirt, white shirt: 2006 Head Gamez! "Pack"
-White shirt: 2007 Fashion Pack
PERSONAL FUN FACT: Jade's main look is one of my favorites from this entire collection. It coordinates perfectly with Eitan's ensemble. He too has a blue Union Jack shirt, paired with faux leather pants. She looks killer in this particular getup, because it compliments her blue hair. Her other fashion is a little surprising. The jacket is a pastel shade of pink, that seems out of place with the edgy feel of the doll herself. But all the Pretty 'N' Punk ladies have a spare fashion with some sort of pastel piece. Plus, the contrast between Jade's harsh hair and makeup and the more feminine styling of her spare ensemble is very unique. I was fortunate enough to get my Jade still sealed in her box in 2013. None of the faux leather had gotten yucky in the box (which is common for this sort of material). Some of these pieces were recycled later on for other lines, as noted above. It goes to show you that they mix and match super well. I am very grateful to have found duplicated pieces in 2022, at the local flea market. They were stashed inside a gallon ziploc, along with a bunch of Barbie items. When I noted the Bratz garments inside, I figured $10 was a good bargain for the bag (that's normally a lot of money to pay for the size of the bag, when shopping secondhand).
Oh dammit. I just now realized that Day 2 is always a theme day. Oops.
So Kurt and I have been married for eleven years, though he's been on deployment more than half that time. But on weekends, when we get to sleep in together, I'll tend to wake up ahead of him and then bounce around like a little kid to wake him up. Sometimes it involves propping up his eyeballs! Every time I do it, I tell him, "Look! We got married! It's like a sleepover EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!"
Bahaha. He loves me. He really does.
My Easter getup. When we finally start getting days like this in Washington I just get so happy.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: Sporty!....I like that name, short and sweet. It's much easier to remember than some of the other, more complex 2015 fashion pack titles. I think it's very fitting, but the name "Motocross" would have also suited it. I assume that was the vibe MGA was going for...that or maybe race car driver. All the 2015 packaging is very similar and looks great together. But the little paper dolls on the inside differ. Sasha is the doll modeled in this fashion. I think the combination of black, red, and white looks super amazing with her dark skin. She'd definitely be a contender to wear this Sporty fashion if I didn't already have the perfect model for display. Personally, this ensemble screams "Jade" to me. It even looks rad on older Jade dolls, like my Adventure Girlz. It's worth the tight fit, because she ROCKS this getup!!!
This is a picture I took and finagled with in my graphics program. This wheel barrel getup is a part of a setup I had on my front porch this year to celebrate harvest. I just thought these little guys were so cute that I had to share them with you. I hope you enjoy. This time of year always seems to remind me of this passage; added to it is another passage to give more light to the first:
Then he [Jesus] said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."--Matthew 9:37-38, 1984 NIV
"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."--John 4:35-38, 1984 NIV

PERSONAL FUN FACT: My childhood Shakira doll came in a green dress with a tambourine. Oddly, I still have all of that lady's small accouterments, but the dress itself sold with the doll at a yard sale. I picked out that girl at the store as a kid because of her gown. It seemed like something Esmeralda would wear. Maybe it was the tambourine. Anyways, I definitely saw this particular version, in the leather getup, the same day. In fact, I feel like this outfit was the most common one in my area. I remember seeing it one store shelves for what felt like an eternity. It's quite zesty...definitely something a sexy popstar would sport at a concert or in a music video. The faux leather is tacky in my opinion, but I admit it's well made. I especially love the embroidered flower patches that run down the front of these pants. The lace on the halter top matches. Honestly, this outfit seems like kind of thing Catwoman would wear if she was a singer...maybe it's all the fake leather!

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I was quite nervous about washing this Ballet Masquerade Barbie's getup. I have washed feathery items before, but this ensemble was so detailed and delicate. I had no choice, however, as all the dolls from the "Avon Avalanche Lot" were super dusty. I'm guessing they were displayed at one point, and had not been properly taken care of. The feathers on this dress looked really grey and even felt kind of funny because they were coated in twenty years worth of filth. The pink and blue fabric also looked duller as a result of the grime. But impressively, Barbie still sported these slippers. Most of the other dolls from her lot were missing their footwear altogether. I guess the fact that these were tied on helped spare them. After letting the clothes soak for an hour in detergent, Oxy Clean (to take care of the stains), and cold water we hung them to dry. After this dress was fully dry, I gently broke apart the clumped feathers with my hand and then used a soft bristled brush (that was clean...not used on my hair) to fluff them up. This fluffing process restored these feathers to their original glory!

I found most of these bottles after the dams were removed from the Cuyahoga River in Cuyahoga Falls, OH and the river level dropped by several feet. Many of them are from the 1950's & 60's.

I struggled to design earrings for Kira's "Meet" Outfit and her Koala Pjs. It's not that the ensembles themselves are not inspiring. Rather, there was SO much I could create that left my mind running in circles. For Kira's "Meet" getup, I knew I didn't want to construct anything outrageously gaudy or huge. I know that this pair probably ticks both of those boxes (being tacky and quite long). But for me, these are rather toned down. She is supposed to wear a hat with this look, which is why I didn't want anything too obtrusive dangling from her ears. I knew right away I wanted to use different shaped, colored, and textured beads. Her "Meet" outfit is a mishmash of prints and styles. I especially love the tribal like designs on her tie dye tank. Her boots are also boldly colored with orange and teal accents. I played around with several different beads to use as the center of each earring. In the end, I thought that these simple, wooden, olive toned beads would be the best choice. They match the color of her skort flawlessly. Plus, I think the wood adds to her outdoorsy themed collection. I knew I wanted to incorporate the cubes--they were a new bead acquisition at the time I made these earrings (from a $5 tub I got at Walmart). I chose them in purple, to compliment the tie dye. The orange and teal beads were obviously meant to accent her awesome boots. The teal beads are exceptionally cool since they have a marbled design (which picks up the tie dye too). I salvaged these from an old necklace years ago!
Ah, Kira's Koala Pjs! I had such a deviously gaudy design in mind when I first ordered them....polymer clay koala charms!!! But in person, I realized that it might create a koala overload...considering the koalas on the shirt, the koala print pants, and the koala slippers. It also would have been difficult to make detailed koala charms that weren't too clunky (and my clay making skills are very amateur). Perhaps I can revisit the idea another time. Instead, I chose these long teal beads, from the same aforementioned Walmart tub. They are quite literally identical in color to the teal fabric. However, they are so long that I couldn't stack any beads above or below them (well, without risking the earrings being super clunky and draping over the dolls' shoulders). That's why I attached a second head pin of beads to each earring. This was so I could incorporate other colors from the outfit into the design--like the grey and white from the koalas. Sure, these are still ridiculous to wear to bed, but at least they are more mellow than my original idea!
One of my friends suggested a pirate getup for Jasper given his temporary tough look with a scar above his eye from a growth removal this week. Off to the dollar store I went and I found a complete set with hook, eye patch and skull doodad to hang around his neck. I decided I didn't want to put the patch over his surgery eyebrow so the "good" eye it was. Pirates aren't known to be happy so I guess he's got that part down. Wanted to get more mustache but this shot required a lot of quick shooting. No dog was harmed int he filming of this shot, however there is one dog that was pretty annoyed. Fear not, he was paid well. And lots of kisses afterward lead me to believe all is forgiven.

“If Adani’s mine goes ahead it will be one of the largest coal mines in the world and will generate an estimated 4.7 billion tonnes of carbon pollution over its lifetime.” “The mine would drive massive industrial port expansion along the Reef coastline at Abbot Point. Over a million cubic metres of the seafloor would be dredged for a new coal terminal, threatening the habitat of vulnerable dugongs and turtles and dolphins. There would be hundreds more coal ships ploughing through the Reef’s waters every year, increasing the risk of accidents.” www.marineconservation.org.au/stop-adani-wrecking-our-reef/

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I have to admit that my heart dropped when I first unboxed Kaya's Trading Outfit. I had very high expectations for this ensemble, since all of her others I own are such beautiful quality (or are highly detailed even if the materials are kind of cheap). I had pined for this Trading Outfit since it first debuted in 2017, and there were multiple occasions that I almost cracked and bought it. I finally jumped on the chance to get this on sale, for 20% off, on Cyber Monday in 2019. Colleen and I were making a rather large order, so she could finally get the coveted Rebecca Rubin doll, and we needed two more things to qualify for the free shipping offer. The outfit I chose for Melody was two dollars shy of qualifying us for free shipping, so Colleen and I both agreed Kaya should get this getup. I was almost as excited about receiving this in the mail as I was for Melody's getup. But when it arrived and I opened this, I was disappointed to say the least. It is made with a very thin, stiff, scratchy material. The details on the shoulder/collar are made with vinyl...not a historically accurate material at all. The belt is very flimsy and thin, and the moccasins are plain. It was the first time in years that I felt unhappy with an American Girl purchase. But this ensemble redeemed itself once it was dressed on my Kaya doll. It might not be the best quality or the most impressive dress on a hanger, but it looks dashing with Kaya's dark skin and black hair. I don't have any regrets about getting this outfit now. Plus, even if this didn't look so wonderful on her, it's not like American Girl ever made that many outfits for Kaya in the first place, so each one is very appreciated!
This getup took so long that poor me only had 2 minutes of dance time Saturday night! This was after they were shutting down for the night. You know, it's a little hard to dance anyway when bound like this! Mrrph!

PERSONAL FUN FACT: Mattel didn't really bother to differentiate their Ariel mermaid ensembles all that much. It would be super easy to confuse this getup with the Sea Pearl Princess doll's, especially if you are new to dolly id. They are notably different though. Sea Pearl Princess has purple details, whereas this tail is all green. Anyways, this outfit was literally reunited with my doll after a year and a half. And no, I don't mean I mated her with another "Basic" Ariel's fashion. This was the outfit sold on my exact doll. I found the doll herself at the local flea market in 2011, as part of the "Generation Girl Bin." She was stuffed in an open gallon ziploc, rather than in the zipper case most of the Barbies were in. A year and a half later, I bought the "60 Doll Bin" from the same seller, on opening day at the flea market. Something immediately stood out to me when we were sifting through the contents of the stuff. Some of the dolls in the bin went with outfits I had gotten from the same seller earlier. Likewise, "Basic" Ariel's outfit was in the "60 Doll Bin." Apparently, some of the dolls had been separated for some reason. This guy always has tons of stuff for sale, so I'm guessing he has a really large trailer or shed he stores it in. That's probably how things got split apart. I'm not sure if the dolls inside the zipper case were from the same original owner, or if they were from someone else. None of the clothes or dolls in that zipper case correlated to the "60 Doll Bin." But the contents of the gallon ziploc did (although there were a few random newer dolls, like Fashionistas Glam, who clearly had nothing to do with anyone).
Twilight cutie Kristen Stewart showed off her latest 70s rock getup on the set of her film The Runaways on Thursday in Norwalk, Ca.
Wearing a red leather jumpsuit, Kristen, 19, consulted her rock mentor and real-life Runaway, Joan Jett, as the two relaxed on set.
These two are looking more and more alike every day! But since Kristen is playing Joan in The Runaways, we guess that’s a good thing.
The Runaways hits theaters next year.
