This was hilarious. The Mom was trying to lower herself into the water to get baby off. Baby was having nothing to do with this. Eventually, Mom had to breach out of the water to remove the baby.

Every once in a while you are at the right place at the right time... :-)

We stoppped by Tunkwa Lake today for a few minutes, hoping to see a few birds. And did! I noticed the loons hanging out at the south end (day-use area) of the Lake - where there were a number of people fishing.

Overhead a few ospreys went by. I kept watching the loons, and happened to look up after a time just as an osprey went in for a dive. It actually pulled up at the last minute and grabbed the fish off the top of the water.

As usual, the osprey took a bit of time to get moving, and out of nowhere the loon powered in from the right side of the picture - attempting to grab the fish. Evasive actions ensued and it missed - but I got a picture I don't think I'll forget!

Addendum note: I realized in retrospect that the Ospreys on this lake at least) which is full of fish (you should seen the number of fishers in boats!) must do their best to pick the fish off the top of the water, rather than submerge and meet up with the loons that loom in the depths and shallows!

LOL! I don't know why I thought of that... so unoriginal! haha Anyway... it's Thursday! Woohoo! Almost Friday, thank goodness! I hope you're not all "fished" out. =) This is the last of my fish shots, ok? So don't worry... no more for a while. Just had to pick my fave ones before I hit delete. They take up too much space on the pc.

Today is my husband's bday! I'm so thankful for him in my life. I ❤ him. I ❤ him. I❤ him. *hehe* On another note... I jogged today! 25 minutes! I'm so proud of myself. I'm getting so much better. And seriously... I owe it to Zumba! Have a wonderful Thursday! =D

Every day we get so many gifts and we take often enough things for granted.

But is it so obvious when we wake up every morning and get a new day of our lives? Why can't we say thanks from the bottom of our hearts for everything that is done so well every day?

I do not have to list everything here, everyone can do that for themselves... and I think there is more than enough to say thanks to the people who are near and dear to us. Are we going to tell them? It does not help if we just think it, but we should also tell them: So good that you are there... and you... and you....

How nice it is to have people by our side who walk with us, who understand us, an whom we love and who love us: partners, friends, parents, siblings... There is enough reason to say "thank you"... for all that surrounds us.

I always like to do that when I'm out in the nature and thank my Creator for all that is green and blooming to our joy... Mother Earth is beautiful and she is worth protecting with all our power - as each of us can do.

Thanks to all of you here in Flickr, for the visits, the comments, the faves and the friendships that have come from many years of contact and enrich me. Thank you all for everything! Blessings on all of you!

My friend is getting married

The day was filled with getting use to a Pentax K5 and shooting from a blind. Found a lot of functions I had never used before. What a great day.

A great crested grebe (Podiceps cristatus) that just fed one of its chicks with a fish, some weeks ago.

Even though I was away on vacation when the chicks were small enough to be carried on their parents´ backs, it was fun to photograph them at this size as well for the first time.

A perfect getaway is to get on the snowshoes and get into the forest and start listen to the silence and admire the beauty.

I think the kits are about ready to leave Mom and think she's ready for them to LEAVE too!!!!
