Always get a thrill about the unusual stuff. More so about railroad wreckers and derricks. The H-TEADYT (sb manifest; Teague, TX to Dayton, TX) came through about noon. It had eight general freight cars (covered hoppers and tanks) but it was also towing an MOW Pile Driver carrier, idler flats and Ohio Derrick.
So, I chased it to Normangee where it eased it's way through. Overheard the crew saying they had to drop the rear four cars of MOW equipment but couldn't hear where. Ran ahead to NSS Zulch, where the TEADYT held the main for a while, then took the siding for the northbound H-LALTEA. I grabbed some video and shots of the equipment, and shot the breeze with the Conductor, who confirmed the equipment was getting dropped.. Just down the road at Iola! Which of course was close enough to continue chasing.
So, I ran ahead to TMPA, and set up my camera equipment for the drop off.
With Gibbons Creek Generating Station converted to gas, the TMPA storage tracks are being used for the pre-positioning of ballast hoppers for the new 10,000 foot siding between Dobbin and Montgomery, as well as a ballast regulator.
A few days ago, a little Byrdie told me, the I-beams stored at Normangee House / Standley Feed track are going to be used to reinforce some culverts in the area. So, it is only logical the pile driver is here to drive them. ;)

btw - first time I used the camera flash for the smartphone ... well - could be worse ... and looks like a night shot so I left it that way

Poor Lily is very poorly at the moment. She's had a snuffly cold for a while now but over the weekend it got worse and then today she deteriorated quite rapidly. My doctor recommended hospital and so that's where we spent the evening.
She's been diagnosed as having bronchiolitis and after several hours of monitoring she has been allowed home but we are to return to hospital daily for check-ups. She's in quite a bad way, breathing is a real effort for her and she obviously feels terrible. All the same she's being very brave.
This is a photo I took of her last week when she was feeling a bit perkier. I'm just hoping she's back to her usual cheerful self soon.

a card for the current moxie fab world challenge: beautiful borders, www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/06/next-moxie-fab-world-challe... . i used the waltzingmouse set victorian frippery for the card. i created the border by stamping the border image in one ink color and trimming it out as you see and then stamping the image again in the 2nd ink and trimming it out on the opposite edge. the two were then layered.

Kids are very busy these days in Dublin, going around and trying to collect as much stuff as possible to be burnt on the Halloween bonfires.
Dragging three kids around snow covered roads on a sledge is bloody good exercise, I have thighs like tree trunks now. Nice of them to pelt me with snowballs all the while, I thought.
Thats how much plastic you get when shopping in #carrefour - they don't let you buy it without. When is that gonna change?

Week 29/52

Meet Beggy-boogoo (my kids' name for any and all bugs--and apparently they like french toast). This little bugger (ha) I found chilling out on a pepper plant in my MIL's vegetable plot. I suppose I should have moved him, but he looked so cool that I took a few pictures and forgot that he was technically the bad guy. Plus this guy was enormous, which made him cooler...he had certainly been taking more than his fair share of my MIL's open salad bar. I'm usually not one to get close up with bugs, and to be honest this picture makes me slightly squeamish, but I am fascinated with the defense 'eyes' and it's mouth. Multiple pincers for teeth? Pretty awesome/freaky.
My Push from Broken Glass Mosiacs was to take a self-portrait or to take a photo of something in motion with the background blurred or the subject blurred. I think I have now taken a zillion pictures of myself. Glad it's not on film. Usually I am just glad to be behind the camera so I don't have to analyze every wrinkle when I finally see the photo. This time I used the time-honored technique of holding the camera off to the side and clicking. I always look too serious, but the arm out-to-the-side method is awkward. Even forgot to comb my hair this morning. No one noticed. Do I look like a librarian?
If I were to take a photo of something moving - well, I can't take photos of my students without their permission unless they are unrecognizable. Let's just leave it as - the opportunity to take pictures of runners, joggers, and speeding motorcycles is not likely to happen on my road. I did capture a speeding car, but not much of it. The birds were all gone before the camera, or photographer, was ready. This was a hard push since I don't usually think about taking my own picture. Thanks Sheri. §;¬)
