Mince pies - trying out the new Flickr App. After Instagram changed their Terms and Services this looks like an alternative to look into. Wish these mobile uploads were not posted on the main Flickr page though.
I took this shot on the bus, the window was a bit cracked and I thought it looked cool with the light coming through.
I had a few tags I think so I'll do some more facts here but I wont tag anyone else this time. I wouldnt want people to get annoyed haha.
1. Last night or technically early this morning I got some life changing news and its funny because I have had this feeling for a few weeks and now that I know the news I can see that they are connected. Instincts and intuition are an incredible thing that too often get pushed aside or ignored. So yes, big news that is a good thing but I am unable to discuss for a few weeks. I wanted to note my happiness and shock and belief in my gut feelings though.
2. I have booked a trip to Portland, Oregon for 4 days on the 16th. This will be my last sidetrip of this adventure. Less than 4 weeks left in Canada before I'll be home in Aus.
3. I think I might buy a dslr in portland as they have no tax apparently.. any tips on what I should be looking at?
4. I still cant get over north americas obsession with peanut butter hahaha.
5. I had so much on my mind last night I didnt sleep until after 2am. That is LATE for me haha.
6. I dont watch much tv at all. Have been enjoying SYTYCD and possibly a little bachelorette. Ha.
7. I was impressed with inception I almost had to eat my words.
8. Next year I must travel to uk/europe.
9. When I get home I might change my username. Unsure.
10. I find film so exciting, to see what comes out of all your hard work. I dont edit my film as I think it should be final.

I shot in DX mode which crops away the extra pixels and takes me 1.5X closer while allowing for up to 7 FPS with the Nikon D810's Nikon MB-D12 Battery Grip using the 8 AA battery option! 8 Duracels took me through around 3,000 shots no problem--maybe more! I was shooting at the equivalent of 900mm with the 1.5x crop factor! Pretty close! Had I gone with the Nikon D4s, I would have gotten 12 fps, but no DX crop factor, as the sensor has only around 14mp, compared to the d810's 36 megapixels! Sure the larger pixel size on the Nikon D4s full frame sensor comes in handy indoors or at night, but in the bright sun, there's more than enough light for the smaller pixels in crop mode! Sure we lose some pixels from the outer edges when shooting in DX crop mode, but most of those pixels would be cropped away in lightroom anyway. And the smaller files make the memory cards last longer, while also upping the FPS to 7 shots per second! Not quite 12 FPS, but still awesome and enough I felt!
What a beautiful way to test the Nikon D810 and Tamron 150-600mm zoom lens for sports photography!

Not just getting to Rotterdam, but getting there when it comes to constructing a whole new train station! After three years of building, a few new platforms and part of the roof are finished. A great place to have some fun with a fisheye lens! But I can't wait to see it actually finished in 2013 :-)

I took my photos of Smalls Falls in Maine this past August with a different perspective from my first visit there in 2007. Last years photos were taken from a footbridge and this year, I wanted a different angle.
The water was cold (It was cold enough that day for me to wear a jacket) and the rocks were slippery but I didn't fall (my biggest worry - I would have dried - the camera wouldn't have). I did drop my remote shutter release into the water on the way in though. It worked again after I let it dry for two days :-).
BTW, I couldn't feel my feet for quite a while after finishing my photos. It made walking out of the falls interesting, lol.
I'll be posting my photos of the waterfall next. This one was taken by my husband who also uses a 40D
this rollerblader was showing off her skills by navigating an obstacle course on the Pacific Beach boardwalk....
"Macho" and the truck to aspire to they might be, but a sand quarry is a great leveler...............because any tipper driven into a soft spot can get stuck. Thorncombe Contractors' unfortunate Kenworth driver chose to take a wide turn after loading and came to grief. Quite a time was spent deciding where to attach the towing sling to enable a wheeled loading shovel to extricate the truck and trailer outfit.

Some blown highlights here had me sitting on this image for quite a while, and I'm trying to move away (somewhat) from using 5:4 crops in street shots (personal preference). That said, I like the "moment" here-- getting ready for a photo from a friend.
Y es que estamos a horas de la gala de mañana con Danza Aswan ! Últimos ensayos, preparando vestidos, maquillaje, purpurina, joyerÃo y demás para que quede todo genial!!!

We rode the Rhätische Bahn on the Bernina Express from Chur to Samedan. I took this photo out the open window as the train crossed a stone trestle toward one of the many tunnels on this route.
In 2008, UNESCO named the Rhätische Bahn and a section of this route a World Heritage Site. You can read more about it here .
