Germany with some fog and mist. I do not recall the village.

Probably no other Dom in Germany has seen more action when it comes to Kings than the Imperial Cathedral or Kaiserdom of Aachen fitting since it is the oldest church in Northern Europe.

The Kaiserdom houses the remains of the first great European unifier come saint Charlemagne and has coronated 30 Kings and Holy Roman Emperors since the 12th century.

Besides its importance to the German nobility it is also a pilgrimage church of the people and chock full of relics that are out for display every seven years when the new cycle of pilgrimage begins, the list of relics include: Christ’s loin cloth from the crucifixion; a cloak of Mary’s; the cloth that shrouded John the Baptists head when he was decapitated and finally the swaddling clothes of Jesus.

The German Church (in German: Deutscher Dom) is located to the south of the Gendarmenmarkt. It has a pentagonal structure and was designed by Martin Grünberg and built in 1708 by Giovanni Simonetta. Located in the East Berlin, after re-unification in Berlin the church was refurbished and made into a museum of German history.

"Lüftl paintings are the name given to the virtuoso outdoor decorations that are usually considered folk art. In today's Garmisch-Partenkirchen district, an exceptionally large number of picture programs have been preserved that date back to the 18th century. Their painterly execution and multi-layered levels of meaning indicate that they are an art movement that is gradually being discovered by experts."

The suspension monorail

The suspension monorail (the "Schwebebahn") with its swift train service is not only a landmark and historical monument but has been Wuppertal's indispensable means of transport since its inauguration in 1901. 85,000 passengers use it daily to travel through the city without the problems of junctions or traffic jams. It is scarcely troubled by ice and snow. With a top speed of 60 kph (about 37 mph), the airy ride from terminus to terminus takes almost 35 minutes. On the 13.3-kilometre-long (about 8,3 miles) route there are 20 stations altogether, the art-nouveau station Werther Brücke contrasting with the ultra-modern glass construction at the station Kluse, which was opened in 1999.

Perhaps one of Germanys most famous statues stands on guard at the convergence of the mighty Mosel and Rhein rivers the Deutsches Eck (German Corner).

The Statue is a typical Prussian martial style equestrian statue of William I, the first German Emperor it was created in 1897 in gratitude after his death for being the Father of the modern Empire and the unification of Germany.

During WWII it was mistakenly destroyed by artillery when they mistook it for enemy troops and it remained just a plinth until 2 September 1993 when sculptor Raymond Kittl finished producing an improved replica created from bronze plates this time around instead of copper.

The Imperial Palace of Goslar (German: Kaiserpfalz Goslar) is a historical building complex at the foot of the Rammelsberg hill in the south of the town of Goslar north of the Harz mountains, central Germany. It covers an area of about 340 by 180 metres and stands. The palace grounds originally included the Kaiserhaus, the old collegiate church of St. Simon and St. Jude, the palace chapel of St. Ulrich and the Church of Our Lady (Liebfrauenkirche). The Kaiserhaus, which has been extensively restored in the late 19th century, was a favourite imperial residence, especially for the Salian emperors. As early as the 11th century, the buildings of the imperial palace had already so impressed the chronicler Lambert of Hersfeld that he described it as the "most famous residence in the empire". Since 1992, the palace site, together with the Goslar's Old Town and the Rammelsberg has been a UNESCO world heritage site.
