Wild Geranium, or Spotted Cranesbill

Geranium maculatum

Flower: Lavender, solitary or in clusters of 2-5, 1"+ wide. Sepals 5, pointed; petals 5, rounded, separate; stamens 10; pistil 1.

Leaves: Leaves: 4-5" wide; gray-green, cut into deeply toothed palmate lobes, the lower leaves long-stalked.

Height: Height: 1-2'.

Habitat: Woods and meadows

Blooms: April-June.

The common name cranesbill, as well as the genus name, from the Greek geranos ("a crane"), relate to the bill-like fruits.

This is an evergreen ,extremely hardy ,fast spreading geranium which thrives in full sun or shade. Cut back hard after flowering and it usually reflowers a few weeks later. I trim it hard in early september and it will form a dense evergreen clump all winter and flower in late April or early May the following year

Del 25 al 30 de Julio de este 2017, hemos pasado unos dias estupendos invitados por la agrupación "Norges sopp- og nyttevekstforbund" de Noruega, un encuentro micológico y de naturaleza en donde hemos tenido cabida un nutrido grupo de participantes procedentes de Noruega, Italia, Francia y España. Unas jornadas inolvidables rodeadas de un entorno envidiable, donde hemos podido gozar de parte de la biodiversidad que atesora este precioso pais.

From the 25th to the 30th of July 2017, we have spent a few wonderful days invited by the group "Norges sopp- og nyttevekstforbund" in Norway, a mycological and nature meeting where we have had a large group of participants from Norway, Italy, France and Spain. An unforgettable days surrounded by an enviable environment, where we have been able to enjoy part of the biodiversity that treasures this precious country.
