This lighthouse is known as the North Island Lighthouse by the locals. It sits 12 miles away from Georgetown. This is the 3rd lighthouse, the 1st burned down, the 2nd lost to a hurricane, this one was built in 1812 using brick and built in a Cap Cod style. It is still active today, but is fully automated. We were not allowed to get off our boat due to Homeland Security issues. Being an active navagational aid it is considered a target! So all my pictures were taken from a boat.
Due to the heat I had more or less no idea where I was going. Georgetown and Melacca (with Singapore being the third "Straits Settlement") are world culture heritage
