This is a photo that I took in Georgetown just as a plane is about to land at neighboring Boeing Field.

Georgetown Christmas train and walk about in town.

Georgetown is the capital and largest city of Guyana, situated on the Atlantic coast at the mouth of the Demerara River. It serves as the country's primary commercial, administrative, and financial center, functioning as its chief port and main hub for trade in goods such as sugar, rice, and minerals.

Known as the "Garden City of the Caribbean," the city features a distinctive grid layout with canals, colonial wooden architecture, and landmarks like St. George's Cathedral.

Had an incredible opportunity to take photos in at a private residence named Georgetown.

This little town was built by a man named George Smith who wanted to showcase all of the items he had collected while working in Hollywood.

I am not sure how big the entire property is, but it has enough room for this dilapidated town that includes a bar, a cantina, a hotel, a garage, a station house, and a lot more. Evidently he built one building a year, full scale.

The buildings are filled with what he collected. We could go in some of the buildings, others were too dangerous to enter because they were falling apart.

It was a fascinating trip, and a little sad. George Smith died about 12 years ago and his town is slowly decaying. Felt that I had a real opportunity to see something that might not survive ten years down the road.

Was able to go thanks to my Sonoma County Photography Meetup group, which arranged this trip with the permission of the family who lives there now.

Truly an American Ghost Town, even though no one ever actually lived there.
