The Georgetown Waterfront Park is a new national park in Washington, D.C. Part of the Georgetown Historic District, the park stretches along the banks of the Potomac River from 31st Street, NW to the Key Bridge. The result of many years of advocacy and fund raising, the site features several notable design features. The site will link 225 miles (362 km) of parkland along the Potomac River stretching from Cumberland, Maryland to Mount Vernon, Virginia. The park was designed to passively complement the natural curve of the river.

The former Georgetown Coated Paper Mill, built in 1910. Edward Fleck, of Kalamazoo, MI, had been brought in to run this mill. It was built five years after the Barber Brothers had opened their coating mill (later Abitibi-Provincial) across the road in 1905, to supplement their paper manufacturing mill down the road, on the banks of the Credit River. This mill became Alliance Paper Mills in 1928, It was purchased by Domtar in 1959 and operated into the 1960s as Howard Smith Papers before becoming Domtar Fine Papers Ltd which it remained until the mill's closure in 1978.

The 2023 CCIM Sporting Clays event was held Wednesday April 12, 2023 at Reunion Ranch near Georgetown, Texas.

Georgetown University is a private, Jesuit university whose main campus is located in the Washington, D.C. neighborhood of Georgetown. The oldest Catholic university in the United States, Georgetown administers 180 programs in four undergraduate schools, three graduate and professional schools, and several specialized institutes. The faculty and programs in international affairs and law are especially well regarded. Georgetown's three urban campuses are laid out using quadrangles and rectangular lawns, with various facilities for research, sports, housing, and services. The main campus is known for the neo-Romanesque style Healy Hall, a designated National Historic Landmark.
